I seen the new 6 max ones on titan 2 days ago, and decided to try them. I cashed in 16 out of 17. Which is a nice return on the $33's and $55's.
I played 9 $5.50 on stars today, managed to lose 2 buy-ins and got a lot of bad beats, sick.
Played 4 5.5 and 4 2.2 on titan. (all turbo, 6 players only)
Won all... love the format right now. One takes around 15-20 min
As on stars those are 10 man. And i think they could be profitable because you can open 10 of them and all you care about is to double up. After you double up ur pretty much ITM so you can close this one and open another ;p
Tho it's quite boring.
I think they're pretty easy, just played 8 n won 7. Most of the shortstacks keep folding on the bubble hoping someone else will lose so they're pretty easy to bully, just gotta watch out for stacks bigger than urs that might call loosely.
Well I lost many in which doubled up... It was just completly different game in comaparison to Titan... the stacks we almoast equal all the time (in most of the games it end up with 6 players with same size stacks) and ante is reducing stack really fast.

im currently doing these on titan as i cant win a thing on the cash tables now everything is gettin cracked, i started yesterday playin the $2 double up on titan on 4 tables. I had 2 sessions of 2 and 3 hours. I am not sure what the 2 hour session was i didn't keep track but in the 3 hour one i played 17 and won 14 of them, the other 3 were all ins against less than average cards that shouldn't have even called the pfr but you get that wherever so you just accept it and move on. Its great for my rake getting just under $7 for 3 hours work, makes clearing bonuses easy to. Think am going to stick at these for a week or 2 then maybe go onto the normal sng's once i get used to them again. Or do you guys think it best to stay on these?
I've been playing the $10.40 games on PokerStars for about a week now (192 FPPs, so 96 games, won about 75%), and I must say: they're a lot of fun.
I like the fact that it's not really about having the biggest stack, it's more about outlasting your opponents.
Played 10 10$ ones a while ago.
Won 50%
Meaning -10$ for me because of rake.
Thing is you need a win ratio of at least 60% to break-even.
Maybe I will give it another shot some other time. Switched back to normal SnGs for now and 30 player ones.
on stars, speed DoN's you'd only need to win 52% to break even.. I think anyone who's not a fish can do that?
I've been playing these on various limits on Titan for the past few weeks. It's been some experience: DoN's are totally different from normal SnG's. I think it's the only form of poker where people actually apply teamwork.
Currently, I'm playing $5.50, both FR and SH. Lost one due to a cooler as I'm typing this. IMO, they're great bankroll builders. If you can play some decent poker, you almost always make it ITM. Granted, you lose some due to coolers and bad beats, but that happens in any SNG. The DoN's are remarkable, mostly because they're easy to win, they don't last longer than 30 mins, and the players usually see it as an objective to knock each other out rather than protecting their chips.
I sometimes try $11, played $22 a few times, and even $100 once (I was really tilting, luckily I won). I was really surprised to see how poorly some people play them. Some people just sit down with the mindset like "if I won't knock out enough players to make it ITM, then no one will." Ironically, the opposite mindset, "let the others finish each other off", doesn't seem to work either, as when a few people double up, you often remain as the relative shortstack, and everyone teams up against you.
I generally like to limp a lot while the blinds are low, because oftentimes if you hit and your opponent has something like top pair, you get paid off really well and don't have to worry about elimination any time soon. As I type this, I got doubled up by a guy who limped with AKo, and when I flopped a flush he kept calling my bets (he didn't have a flush draw) with AK high, thinking it's any good... When the blinds get high, it's basically waiting for good hands and stealing when you get the chance.
Total winnings from DoN's only are app. $160. I'm thinking about switching back to cash games when I get to $240. But until then, the DoN raids shall continue!
I am really enjoying the 6 man DoN on Titan... ATM I have started a new job so I can only play evenings and weekends... and cos I am in Canada Titan is very slow to fill the tables in the evenings... currently I am playing the $11 SNGs so I now use the 6 man DoN as fillers while I am waiting for my normal games to fill up... I play 4 tables at a time and cos they are so quick and fill up really quickly and I have a god roi with them they are a great addition to my routine and are really helping build the bankroll....
Now a question.... what are the average ROIs for you guys playing these? does anyone have a decent sample size yet? currently I only have about 50 played so still too small... but it would be interesting to follow...
im not playing them but imo this is disaster to youpoker learning...
if u started MTT,normal sng, cash game you are became vay too tight as u should ... of course everybody saing that tight is good... but very tight is stupid ... you need to gamble to win somthing in poker especialy in MTT or etc... yes u can say your ROI with that tight play is 10%? but i can tell u if start play little gamble with brain and agrasion this number can be 20% in long run...
in SNG and MTT you should play only for 1st place ... never say in you head "ok im second that is enought" even if u are shortstack ...always finding ways how to win
for exaple MTT: yes u can lost 20BI for tournament coz u gamble on buble play but if u win one of this tournament you profit will be much higher than just folding and try to get only into money!...imo
Miskokvo
I here what you're saying...but when it comes to bankroll building they can be useful.... if you have 20% ROI in a game that only lasts 20mins and you play 4+ @ once.... that's a pretty good return, even compared to MTTs....
I currently have a pretty good ROI on these +-25% (sample small tho) and I pretty much play ABC poker on them... So I don't think that it is too disastrous in learning skills for poker.... if anything you can learn additional skills that can come in handy in other aspects... maybe I'm wrong, but always willing to learn...
i understand but dont play them too long .... u can play normal sng with same efect of building BR but much more fun and learning skill
i dont like SSS either ♦ u holding 2$ and u win 2$ and go out with 4$ ...huh prety same at double or nothing ...
it is just frustraiting to me play for example 5$ sng and you maximum win is only another 4,5$ ... and another 4 less skilled players win same amount ... but in normal sng best player win much more in long run... sry i cant explaint it with my english
gap between good and bad sng player is much more deeper in normal sng than in double or nothing i think and i like it ... that makes me higher profit coz my aim is to finish 1st not (10%) not in another 5 guys with no brain just strategy to fold into money
normal sng players (cash game p.) will be always more compact players coz in normal sng there is lot stages that u never learn in double or nothing format ... like HU play, strange of your cards when are less players, in SSS you never learn how to play after turn coz 99% of hands you alredy all in when is time to river card or you alredy folded.... blufing with SSS? kinda funny to think about it ♦
IMHO playing these "tournaments" is a proper decadence for an ambitious poker player. You don't play to win, but to survive which is not good for the mental state one develops. I was playing them for a while to got my rakeback bonus more easily, but after I got it cleared - surprise surprise, I sat at my regular tables playing SnGos with normal structure and I felt lost. My strategy had altered and become not winning orientated, but surviving orientated...so I had a relative good sample with negative ROI at limits which I personally have been beating with 20-25% ROI...
