Hello,
I'm currently 20 right now and I'm interested in buying a car. My budget for a car is $4,000 CAD, but I've been questioning whether or not I should spend that amount on a car. I'm out of high school, but I haven't gone to Uni/College(Canada) yet so I'm just working right now and taking online courses to upgrade some marks.
I have this mindset that a nice car is a symbol of success and feel that buying a cheap used car will make me look bad. If I buy a cheap car like a 1996 honda civic for $1000, I'll have more money saved in my bank account and have a lot of room to breathe. I can use the extra $3,000 to buy clothes, I won't need to worry about making rent (not a problem anyways), and other things.
But for some reason, I just feel like it'll make me look bad if I do buy a cheap car. I feel like my friends may not want to be seen in my car or any girl too(If I end up dating during the time I have this car).
What are your opinions? buy a cheap car and be very well off financially -- have $7,000 in bank OR buy a somewhat expensive car and be somewhat financially well off--- $3000ish?
Thanks in advance and this is a serious question BTW.
