It doesn't matter really does it? Pop music cds of whatever genre are about 4 minutes of perceived 'entertainment' and then they are relegated to beer mat status next to the keyboard.
And yet like cooks...oops sorry, I mean 'Chefs', musicians elevate themselves to godly status and suddenly assume a philosophical demeanour rivalling that of Aristotle. Smells like desperation to me and is all just pretentious nonsense.
For 'Entertainment' read 'Time waste' and go do something useul instead.

Aristotle? I think they are more like Thoreau... All airy fairy without much rigor, precision or logic... Mostly personal idiosyncracy with the volume turned up... They wouldn't last five minutes around real peripatetics (Yes, my degree was in philosophy).
But this is less a problem of musicians and more of fame in general. Anyone who is told by their crew that they are the best thing since the syllogism will begin to think that they indeed have a privileged mind and superior taste. And that the best gift they can bestow on the world is to share their superior taste and brilliance with the rest of the world.
Witness this... Tom Selleck (famous in North America) became a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association who believe that everyone should have the right to bear arms. Listen to what happens when two famous people (Tom and Rosie O'Donnell) try to act intelligent. One trying to defend himself and the other trying to attack. Famous people should just look nice, they shouldn't actually speak! Well, in Rosie's case, maybe looking nice is asking too much.
What's interesting is that Rosie O'Donnell endorsed K-Mart, and at the time American K-Mart Stores sold guns and ammunition!
