Hi everyone,

I myself study probability and statistics and I am really interested, if there is many persons that like math in our poker community .. Any math students ? Or someone who even work with math in his job (like actuary ?)

Looking forward to hearing from you :-)

I'm a high school maths teacher...

Thta's not the highest level of Mathematics necessarily, but I enjoy probability definitely!!

Anyone else??

Ye, maths student here :f_grin:. I'm not really into probability and statistics, tho.

Do you have something on your mind? I know a thing or two.

Environmental engineer student here, 4th year. Course is very focused on modelling, PDE's ftw!

Combined math/physics undergrad student, currently doing some math research in graph theory for the summer. I can't say that I know which specific area of math I find most interesting at the moment, but probability has always been a big one for me. Perhaps "applied probablity and game theory"

Just finished first year undergraduate in Maths. I loved every minute of it.

Except that time I was hungover and had to walk in the rain to hand in an assignment. Stupid rain. Stupid vodka. Stupid assignment.

I hated math since forever and I'm sure I always will. That doesn't mean I suck at it or don't try to improve at it ... I just hate it ... still tho big respect to anyone trying to make serious sense out of it ... damn u math!

I work within the Actuary department of a large international financial services company.

Whilst not a qualified actuary myself, I work closely with them on a daily basis.

Actually come from an underwriting/pricing analysis background.

Best regards,

Bart

I'm in the human sciences right now, studying industrial psychology. Though I do hope to get into mathematics in my postgrad years. One day when I grow up (meh... I take that back. I don't think I'll ever grow up), I'll be a renumeration specialist :P

Graduated 3rd in class in Applied Math as a mature (lol) student. Will go back to do my postgrad when I win enough to finance it. :) Not very keen on Probability it can get a bit dry, but have taught it. Much prefer PDEs and Algebra.

Hmmm very interesting .. I work as an actuary in the biggest insurance company in my home country, but the profession is just not what it is supposed to be .. I would really love to have a chat with you about how it works in your country if you find time on skype or so ..
