Oh that's pretty interesting. Going to look into such programs myself. As of right now i have so many different user name/password combinations that i often forget them if i don't write them down

It seems to me, the programs still fail because you have to enter a main password and a keylogger can get it. But it's definetly safer then writing down passwords in a text. file or word.

After you enter your main password does it save all the passwords and enter them automaticaly though? or does it only display your usernames and passwords? Didn't read too much into it, just read on several sites that keyloggers will still work.

Eset Smart security center 4 is the best there is.
Go to www.eset.com, chose ESS4 trial version, register to any free email and you will get trial vesrion. It will expire after one month but you will find usernames and paswords on google. Just look for ESS4 free username and password.

I can presently renew my Symantec antivirus about $50, or get Avira Antivir for nearly half that price. Avira Antivir doesn't come with Firewall though, but I figure I could use Windows Firewall for that.

Both Symantec and Avira rank high enough in the AV comparative studies.

I'm just worried that unistalling Norton and installing Avir will result in system instability, since the unistall process is said to leave some files behind etc.

Any suggestions?

Uninstalling and then installing is the worst thing to do with virus scanners. they often leave files and processes behind which conflict each other. If you intend on changing scanner it is best to format your computer. I would defiantly avoid Norton products they are pretty resource heavy and don't have the best detection rate either. Get a copy of NOD32 or Kaspersky
