Well, usually you grab the mouse by the tail and bang it slightly against a wall, to ensure the mouse doesn't hurt the snake... Especially with rats you should be careful if you don't want your snake to end up with scratches..

I'm dead serious. Thing is the food needs to be alive as snakes are blind and if the mouse is long dead, it's cold the snake won't find it.. So either you feed it alive or you put in on the heater for a while to raise the body temperature of the mouse.. But I mean WHY microwave it, if you can have fresh food, eh?
