Well, usually you grab the mouse by the tail and bang it slightly against a wall, to ensure the mouse doesn't hurt the snake... Especially with rats you should be careful if you don't want your snake to end up with scratches..

are you even serious? can't you give it dead already? preferably by not banging him to the wall and not let the snake swallow it alive?
I'm dead serious. Thing is the food needs to be alive as snakes are blind and if the mouse is long dead, it's cold the snake won't find it.. So either you feed it alive or you put in on the heater for a while to raise the body temperature of the mouse.. But I mean WHY microwave it, if you can have fresh food, eh? ♦
Nature would be your snake in the wilderness catching his own food instead of you banging the mouse to the wall feeding it to him:) but yeah I understand.
