I got the idea to start this thread after I heard from KatieDozier314 that this game is more addictive than poker 
I'm yet to buy it, and at least at first, I'm going to avoid dating and to focus on the construction mode in order to prepare for the decoration of my real-life flat, to try different setups and see how comfortable I'd be feeling living there.

Hi! I'm going to play plain v4 (not City Life - I don't like to have a strict landlord, though otherwise I'd find it useful to train myself to deal with annoying neighbours) but I'd also like to learn about any advantages that v3 has over v4.
I might buy the Vampires game pack later but that's not urgent to me.
I’m not sure why people likes this game, but maybe there are more Sims fans around here.

Primrose6789 is a known Sims fan too (as well as the Dozier + Moshman family mentioned above) but she probably hasn't seen the thread or prefers private convos.

Yes, indeed. I enjoy this game too whenever i have some time. I play Sims4, glad that there was an update because the toddlers are back...yaaaay!
Noooo, Sims4 has really cool and funny features. But of course it´s a question of time. You start playing and then you completely loose time, you look at the clock and...ooooooooooops....already evening?! 
Now the Sims can get fat. You have to make sure that they do enough sports.
Didn´t have time at all but soon I will take vacations. Weeeeeee! And then I will restart.
IF I might make a suggestion try to get the Sim 3 rather than the Sims 4. With all the expansions and add-on packs that came out for Sims 3 there is just so much more content to be had than what Sims 4 had so far.
I still play the game from time to time but I have to say that it's probably a lot more fun when you are part of a group of friends or online community who are all playing so that you can fully enjoy the social features of the game.
I have Sims3. Must admit, liked that version better than Sims4. Sims4 didn´t have the toddlers at the beginning, now they updated it and there are toddlers again. They are so cute. I once forgot one Sim-toddler in her chair and she was crying (shame on me), but was so funny how the little Sim cried and wanted to get out of her chair. But I had to "pay" for it: I was punished by a lazy Sim later. If you don´t educate them well as toddlers and children they get one or two bad habits. But at least she turned out a normal adult. Phew. 
That lucky for you. I expect sooner or later they will have for the Sims 4 also a lot of packages you can buy. Otherwise they don’t get enough money of it most likely
I have never bought packages, doesn´t make sense for me because I don´t play often, only on vacations or when I´m lying sick in bed. I´m fine with the game as it is. By the way: I have a nice male Sim who needs a wife. 
I think it’s waste of money as well, but I expect there are enough people that buy everything for a game like the Sims.
This is true. There are HUGE Sims fans who do this but they play often, Sims is their big hobby while I play just when I have "too much time"
That for sure and they are also willing to invest money for the packages. I think on long run it’s an expensive hobby, but if you play football (soccer) for example every season you most likely paid more.
Phew, don´t wanna tell how much my sportswear and my tennis racket and my bike cost!

I think it´s a nice thing to invest in a hobby - it makes you happy and I fully understand those who buy all those packages because they love their hobby.
Back to topic: I have two young boys beeing excellent students, can´t wait till they grow up, they gonna be genuis guys and then it´s time to find wifes for them. But nice ones, not like Charlotte (evil Sim, mom of one of the boys: Tommy).
