Ive been playing a little over a year roughly now probably about 1year and 3months, 3months of that was on play money poker phone app and then after that i took the plunge into for real money poker and bounced about all the different formats till i eventually realised i enjoyed cash game poker the most (regular tables that is, fuck zoom or speed or fastfold formats bloody boring way of playing).
thats my challenge, im starting with a pretty short roll £35/$49 due to being well poor (this is literally only disposable income i have and really its not disposable), will drop down to 2nl if roll drops below $40 (20buyins) other than that ill sprinkle some odd omaha sessions in here and there as im a avid fan of omaha poker aswell (but not so much the downswings though ha) ill try to play daily and ill do fortnightly updates and reviews of everything that happened in more depth and detail e.g. bad hands good hands tilt hands etc etc.

basically i will move up to 10nl once i have won $300 in pure winnings/profit i will move down as and when it says too so basically ill follow the 30buyins for each stake rule with 5buyin shot upto 50nl once/if i reach 50nl though things will change and ill follow the more nitty 55buyins for the following levels.
So far i have $140 spent on a poker hud invested into this challenge and the £35 deposit i went and made so in total i got $190 roughly invested into this little endeavour right off the bat.
i will try my best to not look at my hud/results day to day (whole reason doing fortnightly updates) as honestly think it really fucks with my game my mood and strategy and makes me overly results orientated rather than on playing good logical poker each session, micromanaging is bad for my mental state and leads to tilt then poor quality decisions.
Other than that not got alot else to say other than im gonna try play the best i can each session, to avoid Ego driven play/decisions and to avoid tilt the best i possibly can, i may even stop a session from now on altogether if tilt creeps in as i have a bad habit of decimating whole rolls while tilted and if not that normally the time following is wasted time due to quality of poker played being very poor.

quick update will move up to 10nl once made/won $180 will take 5buyin shot there and will move back down if roll dips too well near or below $130 basically im going the more aggressive route/slightly least that is till i get to 50nl once at 50nl ill nit it right up again. update on progress once logged 45hrs of play or 20'000 hands roughly whichever comes first basically

I don't use a HUD myself and simply read opponents by their playing style for tells. So I was quite surprised to learn that you invested $140 in a HUD while leaving just $50 which you can't afford to replenish.
You don't need a HUD to crush 2NL, 5NL, and I would not buy one unless I also had a full bankroll to play with and not handicap myself with an aggressive bankroll strategy.

Arthurbentley, I agree to (not really) disagree, I would say it depends on how serious you are with learning the basics etc. Sure you don't need the HUD now, but the need will come quickly when hell hit NL10. Shape seems pretty serious since he already invested in the HUD so I would recommend he learns from everywhere and be serious and in the end everything should work out fine.
