After a few weeks working on my mental game and reajusting my schedule I'm back.
Did some adjustments in my game, reducing the number of tables I play to 3 at the same time, I'll be trying to add more as soon as I feel I'm comfortable with the response time.
Going to stop looking at daily or weekly results to measure my game level, so I don't get tilted. I'll try to believe at my game and stay playing the same way for at least 500 tournaments, alongside with doing my own reviews, only then will try to understand what to improve in my game.

Hey man!

Good job you are working on your mental game! :f_thumbsup:
I think that self-improvement is the way to go in life! But that is my philosophy :f_biggrin:

Measurements are OK as long as you are willing to adjust then it's fine I guess. Do you have any hands you want to post?
Keep up the good work!

Cheers,

Hesticus :f_drink:

Thanks man.

I am not a Tournament player but I think I would have folded hand number 1 OTT.
Hand number 2 was a shove for me.

We keep in touch. Good luck man.

Cheers,

Hesticus

I believe that best decision I ever did was to start this bankroll challenge, thanks PokerStrategy.

A few weeks ago I had a little bit of downswing which could have even been me playing a not optimal strategy, but that made my head spin in a way I wasn't even sure was possible.
I was always a really confident guy, I trust my game, my strategy, always knew when I had played bad and realized that I shouldn't do that again. But when I saw my bankroll diminish almost half of what I had built in months, only in 3 days, I cracked.
Didn't have any strength or will to play, was afraid of registering to another tournament just so I would lose more money, so I took some time of.

Happily, a Brazilian pro named Caio Pessagno was at the same time giving some free videos about when he started and made me see that this is ok, downswings happens and all we can do is be brave and deal with it.
I believe my major problem was wanting to start making money so fast that I couldn't deal with the fact that I can also lose money sometimes playing this game. And the same way we can have wonderful days where every flip is on our side, we can have terrible days where they're against us.

I revised my play strategy, starting hands, aggression, player profiles and now am much more confortable with my game and my plays. I can see now that I shouldn't play for making money this day or this week, but make a plan for a expected value in terms of months, semesters or even years where the downswing can't catch me and the results will be there.

Another thing that was tilting my mind was the fact that, since I chose to start this challenge without making any deposit, I have to grind heavily in crazy micro stakes games like the 10 cents STT's I'm playing. Adding to the fact that there are some players who are just there so they can go all in every chance they get and hope to suck someone out, the results are so insignificant money-wise that I was getting inpatient over time and spewing chips and money.

My tip to everyone is to make a plan, for about to months, and stick with it.
You shouldn't even be results oriented, that just tilts you game towards make money promptly. Make a play strategy according to the players you're against and stick with it, the results will come.

If even after that you feel the need to check your results, don't look at the modular results, pay attention only to the percentages of return.
Mind trick: if you feel like you're winnings are low right now, imagine 1 year from now which stake will you be playing and converts your percentage winnings to that stake, that might cheer you up a little.

STAY STRONG AND HAVE FUN

Howdy heltucosta

how is it going at the tables?
Looking at your previous reported BR, "little by little, the bird builds its nest!", right?
Maybe you let us know your favourite games or tourneys that you like, with some tips on how to exactly crush those...

Looks good dude!

It is indeed important to stick with a plan. However, it is like a building block. There is no way your plan can be fixed because you need to adapt the plan to the best of your abilities. If you fail in one aspect, find out why you fail and accept the reason behind it. This way, you can more easily change the plan a bit and find a more suitable goal to work on :)

Hope this helps,

GL at the tables and let's catch up soon at Skype!

Cheers,

Hesticus
