We're currently in Level 2 (75/150) with 154 of the 159 players who have thus far registered for Day 1a left in contention.

Players began with 20,000. So far I can only report, unfortunately, that "TheLastNail" is down to just over 1,500 chips after what he described as "a total setup".

I'll bring more details as soon as I can talk to him, which I hope will not be soon because we'd like him to stay at the table and spin it up!

For now I'm leaving Patrick (pleno1) and TheLastNail to it. I can't get an update on pleno1's chips right now as he's buried deep in the middle of the tournament area, but knowing him he either has ten times the average or ten big blinds

However I just saw him fold a hand - it does happen!

We're now at 165 players.

Have some pretty pictures courtesy of our Spanish team:

Players are now on break, we have 169 entrants so far. Registration for Day 1A is open for another two hours.

I just spoke to pleno1, he has around 12k from a 20k starting stack after doubling up.

He lost 16k of his chips earlier when he hit a J :heart:T :heart:2  flop with 9 :heart:7  only to run into A :heart:4  :(

However he's been grinding hard and is now back to 12k, good for 60 big blinds which is more than enough for a light 4-bet :)

silly boy, its nine SIX suited not 97!

If he had the otter, the guy would have rolled over TT instead!

Nah if he had The Otter he'd have made runner-runner straight flush.

Just got the chance to speak to him (at the risk of this turning into the "rail pleno1 and no one else" thread) about the biggest hands he played:

It's raised to 450 preflop and the fish of the table, who calls everything, calls. pleno1 overcalls with 9 :heart:7  and the flop comes J :heart:T :heart:2

pleno1 donks out and gets raised, the other player gets out of the way. He calls, to represent a draw, then bets turn and river (which both blank) only to be shown the nuts. He said he's looking to go broke that hand, of course, just a straight-up cooler.

His recent double saw him raise with TT and the fish says "I know you raised me blind" before 3-betting. Patrick 4-bets looking to get it in but gets called.

The flop comes 4x-4x-9x and pleno1 jams for more than pot and gets snapped off by 77, holding to hit 12k.

NB: he said he will re-enter the event tomorrow if he busts today.

Play is resuming now.

Play has resumed with blinds at 100/200.

More details on TheLastNail: he was destined to bust this tournament with a couple of horrible hands.

In the first, he hit the second-nut full house against the nuts in a pot against a fish.

In his bustout hand, he got it in with 88 against 66 and lost that one too.

He's pondering the re-entry tomorrow, but we can expect to see him at the cash tables for sure.

A quick update on some of our PokerStrategists in the field:

pleno1 doubled up then doubled up a short stack, so he's still on around 13k at 100/200

Spanish coach FairyVerde is doing a little better, he seems to have roughly 28k
