Get Rich or Die Tryin' - Trust The Process

When I came home from work today I figured I would try some MTT's, not gonna do that again in the near future.. After that failure I got on with my grind where I had kind of a meh day. I didn't play my best and I ran into some annoying spots, but seem to come out of it pretty well and I still managed to book a winning session and I got to try out some new things that I have been working on and they seem to be working but I just ran bad in the spots where I executed them.

Example:

I have had some trouble in these spots in the past as I would usually either x/f or b/f on Axx boards when I had big pairs OOP in 3b pots, but I was recently brought up on that these hands works well as bluff catchers as we can see in this example, just didn't work out this time.

I'm currently trying to work on my cold calling ranges as they are very static so I try to call a little thinner in later positions, but I just can't seem to get my frequencies to rise. This is something I will try to work on in my upcoming sessions as it really should be simple enough once you know what ranges you can play but just don't do in practice.

Thank you Laz, I have just signed up for the Get Rich or Die Tryin' challenge, will be fun!

Yeah, I'm still in living in Ireland, will stay for at least another couple months, then depending depending on how poker goes I might give poker a shot full time either here or on Malta. If not I will probably go back to Denmark and start studying in the fall.

Had a pretty good session tonight aside from the fact that I ran pretty bad in all-in pots, but it kinda is what it is. Saved up 3 BI's for another day.

I'm still trying to work on my cold calling which I felt like went better, but still not showing on the frequencies, I will still work on it, but gonna have a talk with my coach next time he is available on skype. What I did manage to work on today was my red line. I found some lines that seems to be working out really well although the sample is pretty small I feel like it should be working, so I look forward to working some more on it.

I'm gonna go play live tomorrow and Saturday night, so I doubt I will have time to update here again before Sunday.

Just a short write up on the first week I participated in the Get Rich or Die Tryin' Challenge.

I have played 8043 hands since I started the blog. The results haven't exactly been great as I have been running pretty bad overall, but still winning +5bb/100, so nothing to worry about although it's only half my EVBB/100. I'm up $22,10 which brings my BR up to $170,89. I will probably try to move up to 10NL once I'm at ~$350 unless I feel really confident about my game once I'm at $300.

Now back to the grind!

I haven't updated the blog this week as I have just been super busy working, grinding and studying, so it's really nice to see the hard work paying off, but back to that later.

As I have mentioned before I have been working hard on improving my CC 2b range, and after using 2,5 hours Wednesday night filtering for CC 2b by position in PT4 I finally found a filter I could use and I found out which hands I'm calling which I should rater 3b or fold, I also had a little talk with my coach and he gave me some good tips to what hands I should CC, so I feel like I'm pretty well on my way to improve in that aspect.

While I will still try to work on the CC next week I will start working on my BB play as I seem to be bleeding money there by losing 49,97 evbb/100 which I should be able to do much better.

This week I also moved 50% of my action to Full Tilt as the games there are much better, but there is only 5-7 NL5 tables running at the time, so I will keep playing on stars to get 12 tables at the time. I'm not sure how to approach this regarding the Get rich or die tryin' challenge. I don't want to add more money to my bankroll although I technically did by adding $100 on FTP, but I think it's fair for me to add to profit as nothing really changed besides I playing 50% of my hands on FTP instead of stars now.

This weekend I went to the casino as I usually do and the games were just amazing this week (as expected due to payday week). I don't really want to go into too much detail about specific hands, but let's just say people were very generous to me! Friday I was in for €200 and cashed out for €1440 while Saturday I was in for €500 and cashed out €950, so overall a pretty profitable weekend!

Online has also been going pretty good. I have been running and good playing imo, and up $40,96 in 10,332 hands, so pretty happy with that as well.

On another note, now that I have some spending money laying around I have thought about buying myself a nice watch, so far I have two watches in my mind and I will probably try to go to a watch shop sometime next week to see if they have either of them in stock or if they can get them home.

I was really pumped to get started grinding hard this week (I even managed to get 8 tables started on FTP :f_pleased:), but the poker gods was not really on my side today. Nothing too crazy, just some poor card distribution and maybe a few misplayed hands, but it is what it is and I feel confident it's just some variance that I need to overcome.

Had on hands I was a little unsure about though.

I'm not sure if I should raise the turn as I feel we play so face up by doing so, but in this case when the board pairs and he fires a 3rd barrel in a 3b I really didn't feel like I could cal.

Overall I'm pretty happy with how I have improved my game and I really start seeing a difference. For now I still need to work on my LP CC ranges as I need to CC more there, but I feel like I know how to improve there I just need to put it all together and fit it into my game without hurting my other ranges.

Today I was actually going to the shopping centre and look at a watch, I had written down the order number for it and was ready to buy it, but missed I missed my bus so I stayed home and found what seem to be the perfect match between the two watched I have posted above, so maybe all the run good haven't left yet!

Haven't updated too much lately, but just can't seem to find the time as it would mean not doing something else. I spent the majority of last week breaking even until Friday when I hit a nice 9BI day which saved the week, followed by a nice +€300 live session the same night. Saturday me a my friends had a brazilian bbq which was quite fun, but I definitely had a few too many and have felt kinda sick since then (mix of hangover and a cold), so I only played a 1 hour session since then which was Monday and had to quit as I coulnd't concentrate at all, yesterday I spent all day in bed, so today I should hopefully be ready to go to war!!

Been mixing some 10NL table into my sessions when it has been running on FTP as the table seem to have more fish than the 5NL tables there. Friday I had a table up where I had 5 players marked as fish at my table which is kinda profitable xD, so will definitely look out for that from now on.

It's Paddys day on Tuesday, so I expect a ton of drunk turists at the casion the weekend, so I will be spending most of my time there and hope make some mulah!

The last couple days I have been moving my volume to NL10 instead of NL5 and so far I don't really see too much of a difference, I feel like I'm playing pretty decent and I haven't really seen any regs that have scared me.

Today have been kind of a meh-day which seems ridiculous to say as I was still winning! I have been working on iso-ing fish opens and done some other minor changes on that front as well and it seems to be working pretty well from the small sample I have I just lost a bunch of all-ins where I either was flipping or in as a dog against short-stackers, but no worries I had some EV I needed to return, so not feeling too bad about it.

Last night I was expecting crazy games at the casino, but nothing special at all! The game was decent for a while and I made a decent score (€250). Tonight there is a €100 tournament which I will play although I usually stay away from tournaments and afterwords hopefully some good cash-game.

Another week in the books and this was certainly one of the better ones. I have moved up to NL10 and so far it's going pretty well. The games are not that much tougher, still lots of fish and weak regs, and I still haven't seen any regs I wold classify as good.

As I have mentioned before I play on FTP as well as Pokerstars and to be honest the difference in the level of play is just crazy. A normal NL10 table consists of 1 or 2 regs, a few nits and the rest is just pure droolers where as on stars there seems to be at least 3 huge nits at each table a few regs and only a few droolers.

I haven't been very active in here as I'm usually either too busy or too lazy to do so (might as well be honest).

Last week was kinda rough result wise. I couldn't really gain momentum at any point and most sessions were either breakeven or losing, but I'm working on my game constantly and making sure I don't make too many blunders although you learn a lot from them!

Friday I had a coaching session where we went over some spots, which mainly was about folding BB too much to steal and folding too much to c-bets, and it actually seemed really clear to me why I could call in some spots and what to do on later streets if I increase my equity or if I don't. So I have been working on fitting this into my game and although it can't really be seen from my results I actually feel like my game is better than ever and that I keep improving a little everyday!

Been sick the last couple of days, so haven't played much. I'm still kinda down with a flu, so not gonna write much for now. I will try to play a session now if I don't feel bad and depending on how I feel I might have a sweat session tonight, but I might try to postpone it as I really don't feel like I can focus on learning right now.

Alright, I don't have work tomorrow and I'm not gonna play anymore, so I guess I have time for a decent update for once!

This week I haven't played much as I have been spending most of the time in bed being sick which kinda sucks as I'm really excited to put in some volume at NL10! When I have been playing the results haven't really been as good as I could have hoped for, but I'm quite happy with my play, so no regrets (besides misclick open shoving from the BTN earlier today :f_cry:).

I'm still daily working on improving my game and keep trying new lines to optimize my play. I do think I'm becoming better and better so I'm really motivated to play as much as possible.

Graph for this week. Volume is as mentioned low as I have been sick, and results are not really great either, but can't complain, I'm moving up and already winning, so I'm not too worried about it.

I will try to update a little more frequently, but I just can't seem to find the time.

After taking a break from poker for the past six months (give or take) I recently went to a live game where I had a lot of fun although I felt quite rusty after hardly having played at all for a rather long time. So for the last few weeks I have slowly been getting back into the mean online streets trying to re-learn the game pretty much from scratch.

My main goal is to make poker my site hustle away from my full time job. I really enjoy the strategy aspect of online poker where you have to build up your default game plan and from there adjust to what opponents do. As much fun as this may be I still like playing live and to be honest most people are way more generous at a live game than an online game, so I will try to play some amount of live as well.

I care a lot about being balanced in life and my top priority is going to balance poker with going to the gym, living healthy and just living. I'm going to be focusing mainly on living life and then playing poker, which I honestly still easily should be able to fit into my day to day life.

I can imagine this was a quite boring read, so I will now get into my goals which hopefully should be more exciting to follow.

Life goals:

Gym - 5 sessions a week
Diet - Track macros 5 days a week
Less than 2 sodas a week

Poker goals:

Hands - 7,500 hands a week
Study - Review stats, see where I’m winning and where I’m losing and what I have to adjust
Live - One live game a week (until I get more comfortable in my game and playing live)

I will be joining the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ challenge. My starting BR is $200 and my goal is to reach $1,000. I will be playing 10NL FR and just in case things doesn’t work out and I lose I’m going to re-deposit rather than move down, but hopefully that will never come into play.

It's good to be back I have been active on Pokerstrategy almost throughout my entire 'poker career'. I'm excited about starting to share the my thoughts and the process I will be going through in order to be better than in the past! As for my goals in the gym I really just enjoy staying active and I would be lying if I said that I wasn't to look better as well. You know what the say, "When you look good you play good and when you play good the pay good."

Just finished my session for tonight ended down a bit less than a BI over 1,1k hands. I feel like I played pretty well although not everything went perfect, I don't think I got a single 4bet through. What I'm most annoyed about for the session is I can't really put my finger on what I did that made me lose. I can certainly see a few things I could be doing differently and will try to change before my next session. I guess I could just be running bad, but using that as an excuse for losing for sure won't make you a winner!
