Horror show of a week at the tables, bubbled a ton of satellites on the exact bubble and lots of near misses in tournies. Bubble three big satellites today alone.

Hate to keep banging on about it, but I genuinely think this has been a very unlucky year for me at the tables, barring a few notable upswings. So many extended periods of mostly losing with overpairs to count. I reckon I have probably lost with KK preflop 20 out of 30 times in the last month.

My 2024 goal is to review 365 hands. A personal leak of mine is not studying enough of my own play. I've already got 20 of the 365 done early. As much as I complain about downswings, there are tons of leaks in my game which, if I fixed, would have resulted in a better year at the tables.

It looks a bit like you keep track of your bankroll very well - but tracking hands and stats is more like a "I roughly remember".
Wasn't it that you could request HHs also from Unibet support?

Oh I could track it all, but I play on all the sites that don't make it easy to track your play (Unibet, GG, party). Also, I don't think its helpful to me to ruminate any more on bad beats than I already have.

Much easier to moan here once then move on :)

Another rough week, biggest frustration being winning a lot of satellites and bricking every time I played the target tournament. Real shame because the games have been super soft while everyone is in Prague/Vegas/WSOP, but that's the way it rolls.

Yeah I find it pretty frustrating when playing on the likes go GG and Unibet not being able to mark a hand I have struggled with and have a look later. :f_frown:

Great end to the year, really needed that win because variance has had a surprising knock to my confidence this year. I have only ever had one other year where I felt like I ran worse than I ever imagined, and that was probably 10 years ago when I played cash games. Still though it was a winning year, I think about £7,000 profit overall which is great considering I am a recreational player who claims to be running badly.

Probably won't play again this year now for Xmas, but big plans for 2024.

*My new book Beyond GTO with Dara will be out in January, it is complete it just needs Dara to have one more readthrough and the cover design etc. I'd say 2nd week of Jan.
*Our next book is in the works and its super secret, it is on a topic that has not been covered much at all in poker and we think it is going to be a game changer
*Dara and I will be relaunching our YouTube channel for strategy videos

Other than that, my big goal in 2024 is to study more. I have set a personal goal to study 365 hands in 2024 and allowed myself a head start this month (I have done 31 so far). I hope my nice little upswing this week was in part because of that regular study. My motivation is that I have been using a personal trainer and concentrating on my diet for three months and been very disciplined, and I've lost about 18 pounds and as a side benefit I no longer have acid reflux which plagued me for years. Because of that success, instead of doing it for aesthetic reasons, I am now continuing to eat well out of curiosity. I really want to know what other benefits I get if I keep eating well into 2024.

Hand review self study is the same, I just want to see what happens if self study is the priority in 2024. No wild expectations or goals, the study is the goal.

Anyway, here is the dog

Did actually manage to sneak a few sessions in, obvs wish I had not bothered. Left my worst session till the last day of the year. Anyhoo no more moaning about variance in 2024. If I played better and put more volume in, it would be less of an issue.

Fun week, no deep runs but ran very well in early bounty stages to make it a winner. Also won quite a few satellite tickets so one way or another the roll will change next week.

Last year I won the Unibet Slobberknocker bounty leaderboard and I wanted to 'defend my title' this year and it has gone great so far.

I set a target of 83 points based on last year, I am now at the halfway stage with 53.

I also won one outright yesterday, it was a bonkers format:

30% of every bounty went to the person who won it, 70% went on their own head, which meant the heads-up match was extremely top heavy. I won €613 in bounties, the next biggest bounty haul for anyone was €46. In the HU I won x4 more than the runner up.

This HU review video with Dara really made all the difference:

Fun week, despite the nice win and doing well in the SlobberKnocker leaderboard I did poorly in all other games. The leaderboard affected my performance in other games, played way too loose,. Two more nights left in the leaderboard and I am 15 points clear. Last year I only needed 84 points to win it (actually got 115 points) and I am almost there with 78. I reckon if I maybe bag 5 bounties each night I should be good to win bacjk-to-back leaderboards.

I have officially won the SlobberKnocker leaderboard for the 2nd year in a row.

Lots of fun, nice profitable week, but it REALLY made me play terribly in every other tourney I played. I was either too punty, too distracted, and by the end I was a bit burnt out. If I go for it next year I think I might reduce my volume if I make a good start.

Set the target of 83 at the start and that was enough, I got 88 in the end, but last year I got 115.

Gonna take a bit of time off and work on my satellite game to try and 'tighten' my play up again

These are my results plus another €600 for the leaderboard prize. It was 72 KOs in total. I'll profit for €1,556 all included.

Last year I got 115 KOs but only cashed for €324 profit before the leaderboard prize, €924 overall, so a much better year this year even though it was much closer.

Funny week, despite the €600 leaderboard prize the side effect of the leaderboard was I played terribly in everything I did outside of the leaderboard. I also played a lot of satellites where I won zilch in the target events. I ran a little bit bad, but I think I can think of three big spots where I made an aggressive move 'playing for the win' in a high equity situation, but looking at the spot later I punted. I am forcing myself to play a lot of satellites to try and bring my game back to a tighter baseline.

In other news the book is done and should be out next week with a bit of luck, deffo the week after if not.
