Welcome back sire!

cold showers?
I hear about it again. It was mentioned in terms of increasing testosterone levels
http://www.menprovement.com/mpp016/
http://www.menprovement.com/mpp011/
http://www.menprovement.com/boost-testosterone-naturally/

since poker is a lot of stress and stress lowers testosterone levels which in turn has major impact on energy levels and motivation it makes sense to me to work towards increasing it's levels through lifestyle (along with neurotransmitters, which regulate mood- carbs are needed for serotonin for example, I didn't find the right balance yet :))

but so far ive managed only when it was 35 degrees outside and I was boiling, how often+when do you take cold showers/what effect does it have?

My concern besides being a pussy is that I might get ill when starting out with them?

went for weekend to visit my parents and always ended up with helping to my father and visiting relatives so i am failing my goals. But it is no biggie since i am moving back to Prague today :)

Zeldyman: Thx

LemOn36: As alawys you are one step ahead of me :f_cool: You are completely right that stress has big influence on our testosterone levels.

I think my leves must be super low after this exam period with downswing in poker I am even considering to get some test of my T lvel to see where i can get in couple of month of healthier lifestyle.

About coldshover.....Atm i am taking cold shover always when i wnat to take a shover. In this temperature it is kinda safe and you wll never get ill by doing them.
In winter it is little bit trickier since you might be very tired and cold after being outside for a log time so after that it is better to take regular hot shover and maybe if you feel like just take a short cold shover after that.

Basicaly there are two approaches that you can do.

First one is that i do all the time: just set your shover to cold and start with shovering your feeth and then move up until you reach top of your head. Dont be to worried about hyperventilation that might appear if you are not used to it. You will naturally calm down in a while and breath normaly plus next time you take cold shover it should be better.

The secodn one is the one i mentioned with winter weather and it is to take normal hot shover and slowly turn it to cold one.

Benefits of those shover are quie cool. I always feel like warrior after taking one It is very good for building your will power and it has lots of health benefits as well.

Main health benefits are hopefuly higher testosterone ( it probably really works since i have better mood and fell more energetic). Your skin will be better as well.

Lots of people recomend it to boost your immune system and to get rid of body fat. I cannot say much about those two because i havent been ill in last 10 years and my body fat is low naturally since i am skinny guy.

Btw guys if you have any other tips or links for this topic about testosterone feel free to post them here. Especialy if there is anyone who is following intermittent fasting i would really like to aks couple of question and here benefits of this diet.

Thx and gl at the tables guys!

fasting is bad for poker I'm pretty sure - It'll mess your mood up because of neurotransmitters
Gl with smaller sites btw. Stars is sooo comfortable, especially zoom often times it's hard to leave it :)

yeah thats what i would ike to hear from someone with experience with fasting. What i would really liek about it that i woud skip breakfast, which i often skip anyways and lunch at school which is full of shits. So i would be froced to eat at home healthier and probably even cheaper.

What do u think if i would be grinding mainly in feeding period? Do u think that it will still mess a lot with my mood?

Little bit behind the schedule. Slept yesterday afternoon for three hours so not much time left to play poker. Actualy sleeping after the lunhc is kinda problem with me since it is quite common for me, but i was used to sleep like for an hour or so which was good but this is getting worse....

Hope that today is going to be better :f_drink:

I think most types of fasting is def adding stress to your body, so if you're already taking long naps etc during daytime then maybe it's not such a good idea imo :) If I were in your shoes I'd probably try it the other way around, adding breakfast to have more energy and maybe get rid of those naps all together :)

Yeah we should handle our eating habits. Never thought how big influence food has on us.

Btw started to do some smoothies for a snack in the afternoon and it seems that it might be cool variant for heatlhy breakfasts.

I'm not really sure, but balanced blood sugar should be pretty important? how's that work with fasting :)

Your hunger levels are largely influenced by amino acid levels. Your body adapts to these so if you eat 3 meals a day they peak and valley but overall there isn't much difference to so eating 5 meals a day other than the fact you will be hungrier more often since your body is use to a steady supply of amino acids.

If you intend to wake up and play fasted invest in some bcaas take the edge of your hunger and have yourself performing better, I know a lot of people who train fasted but if it's anything more intense than steady state cardio then you should be adding some bcaas. Unless you have a good reason for fasting then you would be better up having a light breakfast of some fruit and a few nuts or something than going to fasted.

Skipping breakfast is not something most people should be doing it's hard to start good eating habits by skipping breakfast I would say it's probably better for people who already have a good handle on their eating and with specific goals.

There is high stakes pros who play fasted but most of them are gym goers with a good routine.

Also the benefits of cold showers to a poker player would be like a micro stakes player working out complicated river spots that almost never come up, why focus on something so small even doing a few squats a day would have a more positive effect.

Last week:

volume: 14:02/15(18)h
offtable work: 4/5(7)h
swimming/workout: 3/3(4) sessions

failed a little with my goals wich is fine since i havent done much work on monday but i was quite active during tuesday and wednesday.
On thursday i went for a short trip to Postdam and Berlin which was so cool that i plan to do those more often.

I also cashed out everything from pokerstars rakeback included so my roll is again healthy for nl20 where i plan to continue on reg tables.

WEEK2
Hands played : 9656
Profit/loss : +$39.31 (rest of profit is from rakeback, i changed my fpps to cash on stars)
Starting BR : $813
Current BR : $1161.05

This week goals:

volume: 0/22(26)h
offtable work: 0/7(10)h
swimming/workout: 1/3(4) sessions

breakfast: 0/5(6)

Psderrr: Thx for info.

Skipping breakfast is not something most people should be doing it's hard to start good eating habits by skipping breakfast I would say it's probably better for people who already have a good handle on their eating and with specific goals.

Sems that i should focus on breakfast first, got to find some easy healthy breakfast that i cna prepare really fast or prepare them a night before since i always wake up late and got to rush out of home

Also the benefits of cold showers to a poker player would be like a micro stakes player working out complicated river spots that almost never come up, why focus on something so small even doing a few squats a day would have a more positive effect.

dont really do it because of poker plus it is kinda habit nowadays so it requires almost zero focus for me.
Atm i am working out twice a week with ketlebells to increase my strenght and mobility plus going regularly every week to boulder or swimming pool.
Durign the rest days i am trying to increase my push ups and doing quite a bunch of strech outs.

So i guess my work out regime is kinda handeled nowadays and i see the biggest problem in my eating habits so got to spend some time one it.

Seems that u have quite a knowledge in this area so if you have any tips for good source of information feel free to post here some links, thx :f_cool:
