I would have called turn and check/called river.

I don't see why you should bet river because you have a good hand but you might be against flushes or trips 6s considering the opponent's line here.

c/c river is the best because you want to see the showdown cheaply and you want to induce his bluff if he decides to bet into the pot with air.

For the river bet, I wanted to maximise my hand, considered trip six, but thought would have seen raise on flop. Sort of discounted backdoor flush, where there were not the odds to the pot to call or raise a bd flush.

May have underestimated my risk of loosing this one I think.

Thanks BTW

You're welcome=) I hope I'm right. I'm currently going through a bad downswing so my strategy got messed up so I can give some stupid advice=)

If you read the "Standard lines against 1 opponent" article you would see that HU if you flop a strong hand in position you want to call flop & raise turn (you win more this way).
Only exception would be a very wet flop where you can protect with a raise.
Therefore if he holds trips on this flop he is more likely to go for a call flop raise turn line.
He is also quite likely to bluff you with a flush draw here or even play a stronger T or an overpair like this so I would not donk river=)

with toppair you can't find a fold. a backdoor flush and 89 came in on the river but he may also bet again with 98 or T8 or he is running on a bluff. don't donk the river. you have just toppair with a low kicker and he could have improved to the straight or to the flush and when he's bluffing, keep him bluffing! check/call River! Donk gains nothing but a raise that you have to pay off then!
