Because a hand can only consist of 5 cards. The 5 cards which make the best hand for you and your opponent are A2345. Your K kicker does not make any difference in the hand because your best 5 card hand doesnt include it. You both have a straight, Ace to 5. 5 high.

Hmm after yesterday, I tend to agree lol. :(

I got busted after pushing in with a flopped straight (my cards formed the missing middle card and 1 higher than board)#, only for jammy villian devil to hit a higher straight on the Turn.

My fault, just didn't see the danger in my haste to get my chips in, a lesson in always taking the time to read the hand in all circumstances I guess.

# trying to find the hand in hand history to post as was quite interesting, will update when found, just to rub in what a bad player i am lol

If I had a dollar for every time my straights were beaten by a flush I could retire. my straights get cracked all the time.
