villain is a good thinking nl100 reg (no more than lvl3 thinker otherwise he would play higher limits ofc) i raise the flop because i knew i cannot represent much and he will either call and reraise and my plan was to backlevel him with a call or reraise. after his minraise i was sure he is full of shit so here is my question. do u 5bet or call and stab the turn. after my call i couldnt figure out a nice betsizing, what do u think?

A call is much much much more looking stronger as u have position and if you imagine yourself sitting there with Jx, you probably call there as well since a 5bet puts him into folding all bluffs/trash mode since he knows enough then

Obv. if you have Jx here, you 5bet against this guy methinks

well i dont think a call looks stronger, because a thinking reg (like him) will know that i will call here with almost any pp, air, anything i would like to float him with and that is why i went for a raise

Okey so you do that, what do you do on a Turn barrel from him?
I mean if he knows that, he knows that you have to fold on later streets and given frequencies, he plays imo perfect then

u mean what to do if he calls my raise and then barrel the turn? well most probably i will fold but ofcourse it depdnds on the size of the bet, i might decide to minraise or shove him

Are u betting the turn to induce a shove?

the pot is quite big now, on the turn my intention was to bet such amount that will show him i am trying to set up a nice almost 2/3 potsize bet left. if he c/r obv i am folding

then I hate it... :)
It's pointless if you plan on folding. The reasons to bet in that spot is either to induce a bluff or tp capitalize the dead money (which is partly a protection against oc)
Turning your hand into a bluff just wont' work on that card, he shouldn't and he wouldn't fold any hand that beats you (9x,Jx and QQ+)

If you think he 3betbluffs a lot I just shove it in on the flop.
If he's 3betbluffing he can't do anything about your shove whereas once you call the flop you're in a pure guessing game if he bets.

Furthermore you protect a bit by shoving.

This definitely.
Assuming he is a very good thinking nl100 reg you decide to balance your raise range of J+ with A8 and small pockets. When he 3bets he levels again and shoving here with all your range is the bets option.

nh, i am proud of u ;) shoving F doesnt have too much sense coz you just risk more to win the same, your play for the levelling purposes is abs the best.

That's bad reasoning for a shove.

I thought of it again and I agree. Not sure about what I was thinking exactly in the moment I wrote the reply, but now since I read TLNs post (we risk much less by calling than by shoving) I also thought of our range again.
And I think since we would no shove trips+ on the flop we can represent Jx a lot better by calling and betting turn than by shoving.
