So.. Vilain is pobolero which seems like a good reg (4BB/100 NL 600 SH)
I normally play HU so i have no real history with him even though I played him a couple of times.

His stats : 33/27/2 with 3b% of 10% on about 300 hands.
I don't think it's very accurate because I often plays 3/4 handed on deep tables.

I think he perceives me as rather weak at that time because I had the feeling he was trying to abuse me. ( high 3b% vs me,)

First of all, preflop might be a fold but I think he would 4bet lower with a strong range ( ? ) and I was also 3-betting a weak player so he might have put me on a weaker hand that I normally would have in that spot.
What do you think?

So the problem with that hand is that he looks very very strong by betting so big on the flop and turn. I think he would almost never do with such a strong range because a weak player would fold anything he beats..
I really thought he couldn't expect me to call QQ- in this spot and because I thought he read me as a rather weak player, i called..

Your thoughts?
Thanks

Hello beardsell,

Preflop: It's damn sick spot but I guess more often he is doing that kind of 4bet there for value and I'd just fold it preflop. He never does that with very weak hand, even with JJ I guess he more often would be inclined to Call rather than 4bet.

As played
Postflop: As you called preflop then likely you can't really just give it up on flop since it's the best flop you could imagine hitting, unless we hit the set or something like that. But being so deep I guess I'd just fold it on turn, only reasonable hand we beat is JJ and I don't think that he is turning his AKs into bluff or whatsoever.

Best regards.

The cold 4bet is KK+ almost always. it's just such a terrible spot to bluff, I think even KK might flat your 3bet in this spot given stack depth. So I fold pre or setmine and fold flop. (getting more than 10:1, we hit a set 1 in 8 times and we has AA here 65% of the time and maybe KK 25% of the time, other 5-10% is occasional bluffs but I doubt it)

if you think he might pick AK to bluff with blockers in this spot, then I guess you have to peel the flop once. To protect your range in this spot I would definitely flat KK in this spot as well and perhaps call the turn shove with KK while folding QQ. I might even play AA this way, though it might be better to ship AA preflop and hope you are getting it in vs KK deep

As noted before, I'd also fold preflop. Given you called 4bet IP, i'd fold turn. Still, i dont like calling 4bet w/QQ in this spot.

What was idea as how to extract value in the 4bet pot? You must yourself this question before deciding to call a 4bet.

PF is abs standard, folding in today's agro games and esp vs him ip would be rly weak- what is our 4bet calling range then?! anything ever?!

he uses a good 2street barell strategy here oop in 3bet pot, which on this board is very reasonable coz both of ur perceived ranges are strong so its abt u levelling urself. I think he is good enough to be somewhat balanced here and have some AK or few fds in his range, but deffo KK+ as well.

I dont know that much more abt him to say more, but i think he is an experienced enough plr to be using meta here very efficiently to his benefit, so deciding against what u think he wants u to do, might be a good way to go. At the same time, PF action is saying against the call ofc.

from what I know about pobolero he's very tight from EP/MP and he's definitely a good solid TAG, not too out of line. Not sure how much he would abuse u though. Actually I would like preflop flat with QQ vs his strong UTG range

This. I love his sizing here. perfect way to level you into a call with QQ.
I'd be surprised if he is balanced here and didn't show u KK+.

hi beardsell,

Closing. To conclude: PF action is very much against our call (1), stacking preflop is almost never a huge mistake(2), (as TheLastNail said) villain is prolly balanced enough to often play AK this way also. As mbml said, I also pretty often flat QQ vs UTG PFR.

best regards
