This is a really sad evening as the habs just lost to the stinkin' Bruins in OT. Hopefully we'll get further in the series next year!

I still need to get working on my Iron Man chalenge. I played a little this afternoon and got 18 points. I need 32 more and I'll be done for the day. I think I won't be playing alot tonight because I'm not in the greatest mood right now...

Here goes nothing...

23:03 - As I setup my 4 rush tables I get Q 6 on my big blind and I flop a set of 6s... I doubled up on this guys pair of Jacks. Great start! Hope it doesn't stop now...

23:19 - This is the kind of situation I hate being in! I'm in the big blind, MP1 limps, I raise to 4.5 BB w/ 77 and he shoves for about 20 BB total.... I thought that had okay odds to call because he had a small stack. I'm not sure about the numbers here, but I'm pretty sure my thinking was wrong on my call, I still was ahead as he turned over AKo. But he pinched an ace on the flop and he never looked back. I'm still up by about 1.20$ in this session, for an overall gain of 7.87$ today. I still need 24 more points...

23:23 - As I was completing my previous update, my internet connection was experiencing some problems... I really don't want this to go on if I want to have a chance at getting my 50 points!

23:28 - It's been more than five minutes now... I really can't afford this! ♠_mad:

23:31 - I can start playing again... Still 26 points to go, It'll be tight!

23:36 - AA(me) vs JJ... got cracked It's been happening quite often in the last few days...

23:49 - Connection lost again! I'm going to go nuts! I still need 8 points to complete today's challenge! As of now, my performance has been pretty neutral until now. Standard situations: Either easy double ups and a few beats and suck outs, but nothing to be worrying about. Still up 7.5$.

23:50 - I have my fingers crossed so that my internet connection comes back and doesn't let me down again.

23:57 - I can finally breathe! That race to the finish was actually exciting! Clock was ticking but I managed to make it through and I ended my day with an 8.87$ benefit. Pretty satisfying performance overall. I think I only made 1 or 2 bad calls in my 892 hand session this evening. I will be heading to bed now as I have to wake up early for school tomorrow.

Had an easy day at school today. Just got back home from gym and had some dinner. I'm now ready to start my daily poker session! Ready, set, GO!

20:33 - Opening the elephant and FT, hoping to have a day as good as yesterday... Today, I'm going to try and go for at least a hundred full tilt points because I'm also trying to unlock some bonuses. As of right now, I have two bonuses running: the active one is worth 100$ and it is released in increments of 10$ with every 250 points. The problem here is the deadline: May 12th. I only have 15 days remaining to try and get 2k points (I already have reached around 460 points since I've started it.) The second on is my first deposit bonus. I shouldn't have a problem with that one as it is similar to this one but ends in July.

20:43 - Very first hand: JJ vs KK, I hit a Jack on the flop! Lucky start! I like it.

20:54 - After 250 hands, I'm doing good. I'm up 3.25$ until now. No awkward situations until now. Actually, there was this one guy who passively called his pocket kings on a weak board... I managed to lose the minimum. So it's ok.

20:58 - KK got paid by 99. I'm up 4.92 now. I've gathered 12 points until now.

21:04 - A few awkward situations just happened very quickly...
I have queens and 3 callers follw my standard 3.5BB raise... flop comes J72 rainbow. I raise, this kid shoves for about 2.5x my bet. Dealer folds and BB calls. So do I. They show KJo and AJo. My queens are good until the turn comes, which is an ace... that's too bad

On the bottem-left table, I have AKs with an ace on board and a flush draw with the turn. The river came another diamond and completed my nut flush. I got paid, Which makes up for my earlier queens.

Top-right table now, this time it's AJs of :heart:.
Board shows : 5 2 Q Q
SB checks, I decide to check behind for pot-control. Who knows, I might get another nut flush. River comes: K SB bets 8BB, I shove for 22 BB, SB calls and shows Q T :heart:.

Tonight is a very good night until now! Still up by 4.91$ and gathered 18 points.

21:15 - OMG, I just lost my connection AGAIN! I'm planning on changing my ISP this month, but I still need to deal with this until then... It just royally sucks. Came back immediately.... god...

21:20 - I'm showing some signs of fatigue, might be the allergies... I might end up going to bed after the 50 points instead of going for a hundred. I'll compensate for that tomorrow as I come back home early. Still 26 points to go. I'm going to take a little break now. Dropped to +3.42 after unsuccessful 3-bets w/ many AQ.

21:41 - Got myself a good glass of chocolate milk and I'm ready for some more poker action!

21:42 - First hand, AA vs K9o, somehow, I doubled up

21:45 - Everything is going too well right now. It's like I just found the fish paradise, where you don't get cracked! I've managed to win 5 big pots already and my differential is now +6.76. (Ex. : AKs vs A7s, AJo vs K7s (Set of jacks vs Top pair + FD) and so on...)

21:55 - I just had two rough hands. I tried to bluff a short stack with AJ on a K3K flop w/ AJ but I ran into a pair of aces wierdly played pre-flop... Oh well.

In another hand, I pick up a set of two's in the BB. Unfortunately, a loose cannon with a big stack caught his flush and took about 30BB from me. Dropped back to +4.29. Still hunting at least 15 more points.

22:00 - My Kings run into Aces... I get the flush though! But we both had a spade...

22:02 - I get two more pair of Kings. The first one gets a call. I then take it down on the flop. Ok.

The second pair of kings though wasn't as profitable. This time I run into.... another pair of kings! Chop it up...

Did I mention, it was at the same time on the two right tables.

22:06 - Incoming call = Small break

22:18 - Back to the tables.

22:20 - KK got called by ATo & 22. Flop : A92... Tough luck continues.

22:25 - Finally a winning hand to break that unlucky streak. QQ vs TT went as it should've, not without a sweat though...

22:25 - The previous hand was barely over when my Internet dropped again... this is getting more and more annoying. The story behind this is so complicated... The problem is somewhere between the telephone cable and the grey box outside my house. What the problem is exactly is unknown and will remain a mystery... It has been like this for a long while but it has lasted too long! That is the reason why I'm switching from PPPoE to Cable within the next month.

22:35 - Internet is back. On the same table I doubled up with my queens earlier, I get kings on the very next hand and double up through AQo. Sweet!

22:41 - after 1280 hands, I got my 50 points and I'm currently sitting with a benefit of 2.53, which is not bad at all considering the eventual rake back and the bonuses that will be unlocked. I might play until the end of the hour and go to sleep afterwards, I am tired after all...

22:44 - What are the odds... my Kings are facing cowboys for the second time tonight! Chop, chop...

22:49 - Very nice hand! I get Jacks and flop a set. I bet it 3/4 of the pot and get called by one of the two followers on the flop. Turn? The fourth Jack! I decide to act weak and check. Opponent shoves... This was probably the easiest call of my life!

Although the amazing hand going on the bottom-right table, I get AKo on the top-left table and I go all-in against an opponent's jacks. He hits a set on the flop and gave ma a gutshot draw. It never came... So basically I'm even after these two hands.

22:58 - QQ vs AJ : he check/shoved with a flsuh draw on a 6 high board and got his diamond on the turn...

23:01 - The revenge of the diamonds: I'm on my big blind with K 3 and I get a flush draw on the flop. Considering the limpers and the small bet, I have good odds to call (Even though I shouldn't be thinking like that using the MSS) I finally get my fifth diamond on the river.

That does it for tonight. I ended up with a profit of 2.14$ and received 65 points. I still need 143 more to unlock the next increment of 10$ Hopefully, I'll manage to get it by Saturday.

I've been browsing a few blogs, trying to inspire myself. Trying to learn of what others do, how they play. I've been enjoying some blogs until now. I guess it's time for me to go play some poker. Starting today, I will start adding some stats at the end of my posts. Even though I mention my winnings and some more details while I write, I should make some kind of table with the numbers so that I can easily keep track of the progress. I'm also very happy because I called my ISP today and am now changing from DSL to Cable. I hope I won't keep having the same problem as I used to have... We'll see.

I still need to complete this one phone call, and then I'll start playing. The tables are ready and waiting for me.

Before I start, I have to mention that I received 5.58$ of rakeback today.

20:13 - Rough start...
I have KTo on my BB. I bet small amounts and get called on every street on a King high board. I get called by AKo who limped on the small blind... strange.

I also had a pair of aces that did not make it past a pair of threes. Already down 3.44$

20:18 - I think I'm going to go do something else for a little while and come back later for the points hunt. I just made a bad call with QQ on a KJ5 flop. My opponent had KJ... I'll be back in a little while...

20:33 - Let's hope I can get back some of the 6.18$ I've lost until now...

KK - Steals the blinds, a limp and a raise.

20:47 - A good read got me to double up. I'm on the BB w/ 55 and I raise a limper in middle position. He quickly shoves with a huge stack. I think about it and my read is he's got AK. He had AKs. My pocket pair stood tall and got me an extra buy-in. Still behind 3.48$

20:51 - I hate playing against shorter stacks than mine. This time, I had AJs and the flop came K99 giving me a flush draw. I make my usual continuation bet and my opponent shoves for 1.5x my bet. I'm wondering, is this a situation where it is profitable to call? Anyways... I did call. I caught an ace on the turn and my flush on the river.

20:52 - Bad turn card! I had AQo this time. Contibet gets call on 987 rainbow flop. Turn is a queen. When I think back, I shouldn't have shoved as my opponent could've had the straight. He had two pair on the turn w/ Q8o. Still trailing by 3.52$

20:57 - KK vs AQ. Q47 flop. Perfect for me, ship it!

20:59 - Loose shove with 99... Ended up against QQ

22:07 - Can someone explain to me what is it with players that call a raise pre-flop and then min raise/call the flop and the turn and then overbet the pot like crazy? I've been in these situation many times without understanding the strategy behind that kind of play. Why the min-bets?

22:08 - I'm aware that right now I'm n ot playing my A-Game. That needs to change RIGHT NOW! I think losing 13$ is enough... So many marginal shoves... I hate getting tens so often...

23:46 - spent a few minutes analyzing a strange big stack oponent... After a few encounters, I was curious to know why he open raised 3BB and then shoved 230BB on my 3-bet... The one time I called him, he had Kings.

Then my turn to get cracked by a dumb flush draw chaser when I overbet the pot on the flop...

Good start to your first blog quite liking the timeline style. However few points...

1. Are you writing this blog while playing? - If so stop doing that and focus on your tables.

2. Don't increase volume to reach bonuses it's a sure fire way to start your bankroll in a downward trend (I've done it many times). Unlock what you can playing your usual stakes for the normal amount of time. We all like bonuses, but if you start increasing your volume (especially with a bad connection) you'll start burning out. As you mentioned earlier fatigue set in. You say your goal is Bronze Iron man, stick to that.

3. Just a quick one in poker terminology, "I get Q 6 on my big blind and I flop a set of 6s." A set is when you hold a pocket pair and the 3rd card is on the board. What you flopped there was trips, one card in your hand and two of the same value card on the board

I was toying with the idea of starting up again with the MSS as I also used to play the SSS, but feel as I've been playing with a 100BB stack for so long now it could be more of a step backwards then forward even though I'd be able to play at higher limits.
I have however looked over and absorbed the MSS, more to keep track of what the MSS shove range is etc. as a lot of poker strategy players play at my poker room and the best way to beat your opposition is to know them and their tricks, so I'd be happy to sit and sweat you for a few sessions if you like.

@3 - Thanks alot for your comments. I didn't know there was a difference between a set and trips. I guess that's my first lesson from another pokerstrategist thanks to this blog!

@2 - I've been playing Rush NL5 for a while now. I'm getting used to hour-long sessions while taking a break sometimes. During weekends, I try to work at it a little longer as I have more time to spare.

@1 - I do write my "Timeline" while I play, but as it is rush poker, I can sit out and take a few minutes to update my post. I understand what you mean. If I were on a regular table, I probably wouldn't be missing the action for updating my play here.

I like MSS alot because it's some kind of mix of SSS and BSS. I liked the push-fold of SSS and the wider range of the BSS. I think the MSS strategy they've brought to us is the perfect blend of the two other strategies.

This is the continuation of the session that started earlier... but since all the counters have reset, I decided to seperate my post as well.

JJ vs A8 - No ace.
AKo vs AKs - No flush menace...
KK vs Q8s - Shoved on KQ6 flop. The best hand won.

As it stands, I'm up 2.80$ since midnight.

00:36 - Wow... I got 4 very good hands at the same time! Let's start with the top-left table:

• JJ on the BB, a 3-bet takes it down.
• Top right: AKs (:heart:) in the cutoff. SB calls my 3.5BB raise. Flop comes A :club:K :club:7 :heart:. I bet 3/4 of the pot and I get called. Shoved after another 7 came on the turn. The opponent let go...
• Bottom-left: AJo on the small blind. I decide to 3-bet UTG2's 4BB raise. He calls. Flop: KQ2 rainbow. I bet 2/3 of the pot. Opponent calls. Turn is a Ten. I shove for about 2/5 of the pot. Opponent calls and shows Kings. River didn't pair the board.
• Bottom-right : 77 in MP3. Mp2 raises to 3.5BB. I decide to... fold

All the hands mentioned above were simultaneous!

I got back 5.94$ of what I lost before midnight until now.

• I'm UTG2 and recieve AKo. MP3 calls and CO shoves for just as much as my buy-in. I call and so does MP3. It goes like this: AKo vs AJo vs TT Board comes : Q9J4T. Triple up...
• JJ on the SB, I 3-bet MP1's raise but he insists, so we I'm all-n pre-flop. he shows Aces.. No surprises this time.
• JJ again but in CO this time. I 3-bet MP3's 3.5 BB raise, Dealer insta-calls and BB calls as well. With good pot-odds I guess, MP3 decides to call. Flop shows AJ2 with two It is checked to me and I decide to protect my set so I shove for around 2/3 of the pot. BB shoves for about 2.5x that amount and MP3 calls for a little less than my all-in. BB shows A♠ 4♠ and MP3 J♦ T♦. Turn and river don't show danger to my set and this turns out to be another triple up!

I think that'll be enough! This crazy amount of action in not so many hands has almost got me back to the world of profitable poker.

So far, I like how this blog is helping me control my emotions. After only a few days, I feel more confident about myself. I have better control over my emotions and the possibility of tilting. I would like to set some objectives right here:

-I'll be playing NL5 until my bankroll reaches 200$. I believe it is a reasonable bankroll to move up to NL10 using the MSS.

-I would like to get better results. What I mean by this is that I've been "burning" my bonuses at almost the same rate I earn them. My Bankroll would multiply alot faster if my game would allow me to earn bonuses and rakeback and not throw them away as fast...

So today I was at work and I was checking my e-mail on my new tab and recieved an e-mail from full tilt. Briefky, what it said is that they thanked me for trying their Rush poker app and they offered me to try and play for some real money instead of play money. I was quite interested because I barely had a few customers at work. For those who wonder, I work at a lonely gaz station... Anyways, so I downloaded the update and played started playing at around 6 pm... I can't tell how many hands I played but the 1 table session lasted 4 hours but with a few interuptions... I guess my game was still as good as this morning because I won alot more hands than I lost considering only the hands where I volountarely invested in the pot. You'll see for youraelf with the summary...

Today was a bit similar to yesterday... What I mean by that is that I worked this morning and it was damn quiet again. I'm guessing that the gaz prices going up so fast is scaring some customers away... anyways. I had nothing else to do but wait. So I played some more Rush Mobile poker. Session wasn't that bad. Overall, I wasn't as lucky as yesterday. I lost something around 2 buy-ins in an estimated 500 hands. Details are going to be in the end of the post.

Today was mainly a rush mobile session as I've been away for alot of time today. I was trying to open my elephant earlier but I had to restart my computer... Briefly, I won't be playing much tonight. I've already gathered 37 points playing on my tablet and I'll be getting 13 more right now so I can still be on the run to become an Iron man. My part-time rush mobile session has been good today. Last night was quite something... The majority of my fellow Canadians voted for a Conservative Government. I personally believe that is not good news for the country... Anyways.

I had a lazy morning today. I played a little bit on my tab on my way to school and back. I think I unlocked the 4th 10$ increment of a bonus. I think I found a way to know how many hands I played on my tab using the Full Tilt's Hand history. I recovered the sessions played on my tab and I will edit my posts to make the hand counts more precise.

I counted the amount of hands I played and edited my previous posts for more accurate stats. I'm now ready! So...

13:43 - Crazy session until now! I've had lots of sick beats against me and I still manage to be up by 10.55$ This is a great start considering I could even have more! I can't complaining.

14:10 - I need a lunch break! Once again... because of my large profits my range has widen up. That is not good! I'm going to go eat something and come back with a fresh mind set later. (Up 3.97$)

20:29 - I feel like I'm having a rough time even though I'm up 6.04 now... It has been a crazy roller-coaster today. I don't know if this is because I've played alot of hands or if my opponents are playing some weird strategy or they just don't know how to play and go for it with any two cards... I'm getting easy money but at the same time I lose what is supposed to be more easy money... My graph for today should be something like a very long rising line with a few bumps going down. Instead, it's probably crazier than the most hardcore roller coaster ride you've been on... I'll post it with the summary later tonight.

Ok... so now I have a 185$ bankroll and I'm about to unlock another 10$ bonus in the next few hours... But I don't want to mix up everything so I'll just play NL5 today and I'll slowly start playing NL10 tomorrow.

I've played a little bit on my tab today and I wasn't running so good at the beginning. I think I lost 4 premium hands in a row. But I said to myself that my game wasn't bad, I just got cracked on the river or sucked out by a smaller pair. So I kept playing and came back from behind and ended up with a 23 cents loss.

Now I'm home for the next couple of hours and since my homework is done, I can play for at least an hour for now. When I come back from my afternoon class, I'll complete my session.

It is getting pretty usual for me to play on my tab on my way to school and back... This time, I even managed to play some hands in class without it bothering anyone. Plus, since I'm pretty tight and fold most of my hands, it wasn't too complicated to play a profitable session.

I will start playing NL10 slowly tonight. I want to get used to the new numbers and adapt my bet sizes to this new limit. I will start with one Rush table and after a few hundred hands I will double that. Then, after 1k hands, I will evaluate how I'm performing and see if I can move up to more tables or not.

00:28 - This has definately been one of my worst sessions EVER

At some point, frustration kicked in, then I tried to control myself and stay disciplined. How is it possible to do so when every hand I'm supposed to double up I get sucked out on the turn or river on a good shove on the flop or pre-flop... That or I encounter a better hand when I do have a good hand myself. I have dropped way too much. At the very end, tilt took over and I lost 2 BI I shouldn't have... The numbers will tell you everything... Maybe I was too ambitious about NL10... I'll think back into what happened tomorrow or this weekend. I really hope this won't happen again.

I don't know if I'm going to play or study my game tomorrow... I could watch some vids to improve my self-control. I really think I hopped into NL10 a bit too fast. When I go back, I will definetely spend more time playing 1 or 2 tables. I need to understand the differences on players I encountered in NL5 and the ones I will face in NL10.

Note: It is NOT normal that I've won only 40% (37/92) of my showdowns tonight. (NL10 only) I'm aware that a dozen of those losses are my entire fault because of a bad play. But for some reason I cannot explain why I've lost so many more... I need to review my session. I think playing less tables and concentrating on taking notes on players will greatly help me start at NL10. I'll think about more solutions to this problem after a good night of sleep and a long day of school.
