This one confuses me too.

I can't figure out what he has.

Villian 12/8 over 50.

Calling on that flop, then checking turn, then pot betting on the river?

Maybe AQ and was just floating? Failed flush draw? He'd have to have a good read on me to pot bet with that?

Perhaps I should have bet the turn as a scare card, and it would have given me an indication as to if he was drawing or hit the queen? Since also c-betting the flop then checking on that card, pretty much looked as if it scared me/beat my pair?

Hello Jim4rdo,

Yes, rather Bet the turn than Check it behind. We still get value from a lot of pairs and even draws. And as played I would rather Call it while he may even do that with missed draws, which saw you being weak and of course weaker pairs/PPs unless he is really some kind of passive side player.
