I would advise you to study as much of the information you have access to here on pokerstrategy (videos, articles), before you play a lot. In the beginning of your career, you're best of studying more than you're actually playing. After you've developed solid fundamentals this way, it's all about keeping up the study, while playing and analysing your hands (with help from the hand evaluation forums).
It's gonna take a while for you to become a winning player, but of course the more you work at it the faster it's going to go. Just make sure you work on your mindset and use proper BRM, because otherwise it doesn't matter how good your game strategy is - you will still not win anything.
