Interesting spot. His donkbet looks so strong, like AA or an 8 (but I don't know what 8 would call preflop, A8s, 89s - the fact is that we don't know much about villain).

Maybe he could also try a bluff/valuebet with 55,66,77,99, TT, JJ, AX/KJ of clubs. A spazz bet - what was his timing?

If I would have to choose the most probable hands to see at showdown in this spot I would say that we see: AA (slowplayed pre and post), 88, 44 (quads). I'm curios to see if I'm right.

If you´re betting turn you´re not b/f, so I think river is easy call
Not sure how many times he would shove with worse made hands for value but if you were willing to play for stacks on the turn, then you should also do that on blank river

What did he have?

quad eights, although i think he will still take this line with like 99+ and some missed draws (small % tho) so i like my call still

edit: also i dont think he ever has a single 8 or 4 in this range like K8 or K4 etc which gives u more reason to call river

First hand I thought on seeing the hand was 88/AA. I don't think he would shove with 99-JJ. Agreed that there are no single 8s or 4s in his range. I think you're beat a lot of the time, but it's an incredibly hard fold as he could be spazzing with a missed draw (AcKc, KcQc, maybe QcJc, KcJc).

EDIT: Or just complete air because he puts you on broadway cards and thinks you'll fold due to his strong line.
