I've been having a swollen, aching tooth and many sleepless nights. (and that's also because I have a 3 months old puppy who kicks me in every 39 seconds during the night)
I'm discussing this with MarcPS and asking him if he has any cataflan on him, since I ate all of mine. He simply suggests to go to the dentists!

so now, what is your best medicine for tooth aches?
he also suggested whiskey 
i should point out I have no idea what cataflan was.

tooth or gums? any anti-inflammatory or analgesic will help. 
but that's just a little patch on the problem. the dentist should know how to stop the pain more permanently

Why not dentist? He will just check out your teeth, and fix the pain. Are you afraid that it will hurt? Or is there any other reason? Most pain you will feel is when the dentist gives you anesthesia by injecting in your gums with a needle. I know it sounds horrifying but it actually doesn't hurt. And then just about 30mins you will be done, and then you can get facial piercings because you won't feel you face around the mouth for a few hours. ♦
I would understand not going to dentist if he would just drill without anesthesia, (I have experienced that, fuck school dentist).

About tooth, cataflam is just a pain killer which is just temporary. To find out the root cause and fix the problem permanently, dentist is best idea.
Get to the dentist! About 5 years ago I had really bad tooth ache for around a week and I was drinking non stop and eating pain killers like they were candy. When I went to the dentist I was never so happy to get a tooth taken out. All the pain went away in a few minutes.

Call the dentist, explain the problem and ask him/her what is going to happen to you and how much longer you've got to live. Then you can decide whether to go or not. It could be something as simple as food stuck between two teeth that has caused the gum to swell up. (Which can be fixed by just flossing thoroughly.)
