Poker christmas gift to my father

doesnt seem like that good of an idea for me, if i were in his spot, and was playing a lot, i would be very happy if my son gave me something out of poker+400$ seems a shit load of money for just a present, if not a secret, what country are you from?

The fact is that he is very interested, and if the interest is there, I think he would appreciate a present to peak the interest further, and also win money in doing so?

It's quite a bit of money, but nothing in comparison to what he has given me in life and everything he has taught me. I thought I'd be extra generous this year :).

if hes starting out, a subscription to a good training site for the variant he is interested in playing makes more sense. If he is already winning micro stakes in his variant, then the coaching can be better.

Getting HEM is perfect. Why make the coaching sessions a father/son tag team thing. Where u get coached together. That way u can get a bit of the gift for urself, and the 3-4 hours of coaching will also count as social time. ♦

I might be wrong here, and coaching in general or for ur dad in specific, might be s'best as one on one, but if not, my idea is good. Consider that if u both take part in the coaching, you will also share a point of reference when discussing ur plays afterwards.

He is a member of pokerstrategy... I recommended him. He is not a forum person though, so I will get him into it.

@ilrasso We live in two different countries, so I might not have the chance to sit with him. But maybe he can teach me a thing or two after his lessons :)?

That's a bit of a ridiculous statement imo. Maybe he hasn't got the spare cash to spend on a coach, it doesn't mean he doesn't want to learn. Take me as an example. I'm life broke atm and can't afford any sort of coaching, but if I was given $400 worth of coaching from a top player I would make damn good use of it.

Just because someone hasn't already had coaching it doesn't mean they don't want to learn.

He is playing $1-$4 sngs on stars. And at the casino he plays 10/10 SEK NLHE. Thats euro similar 1/1, maximum buy-in 100 euro.

Are there any cheaper coaches on sngs? Maybe more is better? Im sure lessthanthree is quality, but is 3-4 lessons enough to change a lot?

I think it can be enough, especially since it's high quality. Ofc, he won't become a pro right after coachings, but this can make him at least small winner and when he starts winning, he might buy more coachings on his own (people buy a products again if/when they see that it's useful)

great idea imo, and 3-4 hours is plenty, don't give him a bad experience by buying coaching from some giraah kinda dude

I would love nothing more than for someone to buy me a gift like this. If your dad is truely interested in poker (which usually means borderline obsessed,) and genuinely wants to get better, he will very much appreciate this.
