Hi everyone,
I'm hoping you can help me out in getting my father a gift he will never forget.
Background info on the father:
I got him interested in poker a long time ago, and recently he has been playing quite a lot, a lot more than I. We usually discuss hands we play, and we quite often have different opinions on how hands are played, and why we make certain bets. One common example would be that he says the reason he bets on a certain flop is to get other people to fold, while I am of the opinion that we are betting for value.
I think he is a break even player, and since he play so much I would think the best gift is to make him better!
He plays sngs on stars a lot, and he plays at the local casino at the cash games.
My budget: $400
I was thinking of getting him coaching lessons in sngs, and I've looked at lessthanthree as a good sng coach.
Current budget layout:
$300 for 4 lessons with lessthanthree
$90 for holdem manager (he doesnt have it yet)
$35 two session reviews from lessthan three
Total: $425 (a little over, but I'm not picky).
Do you think this is a good gift? Should I mix it up a little more perhaps? Can I get more value out of this money? $75 for a lesson is quite a lot, but I think he is a good coach too?
Please give me suggestions, I want to make my dear father very happy for christmas and I think something poker related is the best way to do so. I was also thinking to add a book on playing live cash games, as he seems to do so once a week, and seems to be successful in doing so.
Thanks a lot
