Results follow:

BU shows a flush, ace high(A:c 4:c).
Hero shows three of a kind, eights(8:h 8:s).

BU wins with a flush, ace high(A:c 4:c).

Should I at any point assume i'm beat here, maybe c/f the river? Villain was pretty much totally unknown, played 3 hands and limp/called all of them. I assumed he was calling me down with Kx, but should I be more cautious in future and assume the flushdraw?

This is a very tricky spot and I think a check fold line on the river might have been more appropriate. Check call might even be possible considering the bet size he might make on river but once he calls your large bet on the turn you should be done with the hand in my opinion. It is hard to fold a set especially if you have folded middle pairs on the flop playong the call 20 rule

Hello numbnutter,

He may easily have a lot of Kx hands in his range. Most likely I'd play the same way. We can't really go for a Check/Fold line here while even not knowing the opponent that much.

Best Regards.

Would he cbet here though? I'm oop and came in with initiative, would he not just take the free card if he's drawing?

Sorry, I thought you just Called preflop. Standard line from your side! Just ignore it. You can't really skip the bet while the guy could easily have himself Kx hands.
