Here you go my man:

Buy -

1. To bluff, as in "buy the pot"
2. To post all blinds, so that on the following hand, they receive the button.

Buying the pot is the same as bluffing at a pot. Although it can be done in any game, it is most commonly done in No Limit where a player can make a sizeable bet and drive out drawing hands.

Full explanation can be found here: ''Buying The Pot''

LOL!! Poor Ingi, what has she let herself in for :)

The term is usually used when you're bluffing.

For instance, You miss on the flop, So you Fire a Bluff, He calls.
You will then have the choice if you want to "Pull the trigger" again by firing another bluff.

Wasn't an easy one to describe, hope that makes sense?

Its used more in TV Commentary.

Hello roopopper,

I would highly suggest you not talking about buying 'the pot' on a public forum, since it might bring the police to your door in a short matter.
I suggest you go out on the streets waving money around, asking for some 'green', as it would be much less obvious.
Also, for some tips on buying/selling 'the pot' i suggest the TV show 'Weeds'. It can answer some of your undoubtedly necessary life-changing questions.

On a serious note, I think you should always play standard or go for the 'lots of drinks' line instead of trying to buy 'the pot'.

Best regards,
mayapnd.

PS. Feel free to post in the link below ropopper posts, as it might might get some of us to a higher level of experience 'the pot' can.

On the first hand of the rebuy period in a small tournament you pick up K-K in late position. The first player raises 25% of his chips and is called by two other people should you:
a)Fold b)Call c)Raise d)Raise all-in?

Did I mention the link below ? :f_biggrin:
