PartyGaming - $0.04 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

CO: $0.94
BTN: $2.70
SB: $3.86
BB: $1.88
UTG: $4.00 - 13/9/0 (23 hands)
Hero (UTG+1): $4.06
MP: $4.23
MP+1: $1.08
LP: $4.49

SB posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.04

Pre Flop: ($0.06) Hero has 9♠ 9♣
UTG raises to $0.12, Hero calls $0.12, fold, fold, fold, fold, BTN calls $0.12, fold, fold

Flop: ($0.42, 3 players) 8♠ 3♦ 7♣
UTG checks, Hero bets $0.32, fold, fold

Hero wins $0.40

Was it the right move to take the initiative and protect the hand, since UTG who was preflop aggressor gave up? I think that if he had any better hand (like TT+), he would have cbetted to protect his hand on this drawy board.

Hello faronel,

Definitely, there is no point to Check it while we already have an overpair and most likely the best hand. Protect from overcards.

Best Regards.
