Equitywise you could 3bet but there's not a big Gain in 3betting:
Just take a look:
Board:
Equity Win Tie
MP2 34.15% 30.84% 3.31% { A7s, A7o }
MP3 29.49% 27.66% 1.84% { 77-44, A9s-A2s, KJs-K2s, Q3s+, J5s+, T5s+, 95s+, 85s+, 75s+, 65s, ATo-A2o, K6o+, Q7o+, J7o+, T7o+, 97o+, 87o }
CO 36.36% 33.81% 2.54% { 33+, A2s+, K2s+, Q6s+, J7s+, T8s+, 98s, 87s, 76s, A2o+, K7o+, Q9o+, J9o+ }
You see you have just a marginal equityedge and by having the initiative you suffer from some particular disadvantages. Postflop , if you didn't hit and you will have missed the board around 66% of the time, you brought yourself into a situation where you feel like "I feel obliged to make ma standard continuation bet" but very often you'll get called and sometimes you do another mistake and you do bet again. I don't mean that it's a general mistake to contibet Ax on the Turn but it depends. When just calling, you can play according your equity and you'll be paid off way liberally as you kept your range strong. By 3betting you narrow your range with a hand that's not worth be 3betting.
Furthermore you have to consider that, when playing OOP; you gotta discount 2-3% of your equity. depends on your playability but playability with A7x is kind of shit because you rarely flop 2pair, if flopping 1pair and people start to raise you don't feel comfortable either and if you flop nothing, you feel obliged to be calling down with just Ax and you end up losing against some madehand. Too many bad scenarios can occur with a weak hand like A7. If you 3bet that light with Ax then you can less well represent Toppair on lets say A62 Flop because you have less Ax combos in your range if A7 is in your 3betting range.
Thanks for your help. It is always a great pleasure to read your thoughts,as datsmahne's lately,dawnfall of course.. It is getting more and more a less confusing game of poker for me with your help.
here, there is one shameful confession--i thought that hand is a 3 bet or fold. i guess u meant 3 bet is too much so call is correct. if i call and hit TP on flop i would be scare to raise Bu, but play wawb. is that wrong,right? there is a SB in the game,and BU has of course many hands possible other than Ax.
so call preflop and c/r flop when i hit tp?
