The people at my local casino tend to like to play every hand that has at least some equity, meaning if I raise 4BB from early I could get 6 people in the pot.
People combat this by raising premium hands absurd amounts like 16BB but I hate this because you end up playing massive pots with top pair.
I like to fire my 4BB + 1 per limp cause pot control is key in my eyes,
Adjust your range, not your bet sizes.
Play more hands that win big pots, pairs, suited ace, connectors.
In these types of games 'premium' hands like QQ - AA, AK, AQ have less value and need to be played with more caution. Three barrelling AK unimproved will be a long term leak in soft live games. Only bluff when heads up against someone you know can let go of a weak hand. Don't bluff in big pots, when there is a lot of money in the middle, people are loath to fold.
Be patient, don't go broke with one pair in a multi way pot. If you bet AA on the flop and two people call, consider check/folding the turn. If you get raised it's usually a snap fold.
Take time to observe the players. See who will call three streets with second pair, who just check/calls with two pair or top top. Find out who likes to slow play and if anyone has any tells. Just because someone is check/calling doesn't necessarily mean they are weak. Some people simply don't know how to bet. Ive seen people call or even check behind on the river with the nuts!
Don't get cute by going for fancy check raises with a big made hand, just bet, bet, bet it, and bet it BIG!
Generally I open raise to $12 (6x) and isoraise from $15 to $20 in these soft live games.
The reasons we raise bigger preflop in these games is to:
1) Get more "value"
-anytime we can get fish to call with worse hands we are getting value even preflop
2) Thin the field
-we dont want our KK to see a flop 6 ways. If we open raise 4x we are pretty much making sure everyone calls
3) Lower pot to stack ratio
-This means we can stack off slightly lighter preflop which is generally a good thing with our premium preflop hands.
Counter arguement to your big pots with TP arguement
-If we raise to 16x and manage to get 2 callers we a premium hand, lets use Aces for this example and lets assume we are 100bb deep
Flop is Txx (pot=50bb)
we bet 30bb, one villain calls
Turn is a blank (pot=110bb)
we shove for 54bb, villain feels commited and calls with his KT
We suddendly staked a hand that we could never do if we opened 4x
same on my place ppl usualy play live looser coz there are fewer hands to play compare to internet poker.Usualy when you play 100 hands online you play about 10 hands live,also if you use to multitable....ohohoho.
When I play live my raise is usualy 6-8BB+1 for every limper,advice valuebet to death coz ppl will call on flop and turn with 3rd pair or gutshot almoust all the time
Whatever size you think they will call.
I start of 4/5x and if there are still lots of players just keep bumping it up.
