I'm a 19 year old student at the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, England, studying Finance and Investment Management. By the sounds of my course, I am yes a very naturally mathematically orientated person and so the likes of pot odds, implied odds all of that all interests me a huge amount, as well as the vast rewards one can achieve through paying poker, both psychologically and financially.
Regarding poker as a whole, the first ever game I played was in my University Halls with tacky cards and pasta quills for chips. At first my main aim was to see every flop possible regardless of the amount of quills/chips it cost me. This was roughly one year ago from now, and since then i have delved into the online version of the game, which is much more fast paced and required less social organization than gathering people who wanted to play, a clearly better way to enjoy the game.
Until roughly one month ago I had never understood that there is a profit which can be made by studying hard and trying to improve your game. Some argue i have a very addictive, phase based personality, by which i mean i go through periods of time obsessing over different things, such as working out, or playing a particular video game.
What i mean by this, is that poker has fit directly into this category, however i hope it is something i can continue and can take a life long interest in.
I have read 3 almost 4 poker books now, by two famous authors which many of you will have at least heard of.
The first book, is one i recommend, if possible, every aspiring poker poker should read, it fills in gaps of knowledge that helped me improve my game dramatically, i read it in just over a day and is potentially my favorite, most informative book I've ever read.

The second book is a more complex, mathematically based book which focus on nitty part of a players game, although complex, you can take a lot from such an experienced player and put it into practice.

I love to spend the time studying new things i enjoy, therefore a site like this is perfect for running over hand histories, listening to what others have to say about different ways people play hands and generally being part of a community which enjoys the same things that i do, such as playing poker.
I don't think i will set myself a challenge as such but more post my progress over a span of time to track where my finances are going.
My current bankroll fluctuates around 800-1000 USD. This has been made from 2 big wins on 888poker, a site some know as being relatively soft, my biggest win being just over 1.2kUSD which for me, was unbelievable, i could hardly believe that i had won an MTT against other people who were trying to win it as well. This made me think, if i improved my game i could become a successful player and turn over some nice profits to spend on things i enjoy, as we all do.
I now play on PokerStars, because of the highly frequent MTTs they have to offer. So far on PokerStars i've scored a small profit of 300 GBP which is similar to 500USD, and a profit of 980GBP which equates to around 1400USD on 888poker. I do not however wish to go back to 888poker because i enjoy the challenge of harder opponents as it will do better for my game as a whole.
As far as i'm concerned in general i have little interest in playing cash games or SNG's as i enjoy the thrill of beating fields of players over a large sample size, it fills me with a sense of accomplishment. This may change over time but for now i'm afraid i only thoroughly enjoy MTTs.
In terms of my BRM (Bankroll Management) I buy in for the range of 1.20-8.80USD. This also varies based on whether it is a cap game, or a large field MTT, as i adjust accordingly.
I'm sorry if i have written too much or too little for this, and forgive me if i have, but it is my first one and so i have no clue what to include, i simply want to share a passion with other people who love the game too.

08/8/12 41st/2.7k runners 2.20 NL Hold'em 5k Gtd - shoved 56s middle position on 20 bbs, lost concentration.
09/8/12 40th/2.3k runners 5.50 NL Hold'em turbo - raised with A2 suited to steal blinds then called a reshove, lost to A9 suited.
10/8/12 7th/450 runners in a 2.20 Unlimited Rebuys Tournament - got very unlucky on the FT shoved KQ suited and ran into KK.
11/8/12 21st/3.4k runners 2.20 NL Hold'em freezeout. Shove A7o in the cut off, snap called by SB. Shows KQ, he rivers a queen to knock me out.
13/8/12 177/9k runners in bigger 4.40 NL Hold'em 30k gtd. Lost a flip my 1010 vs AK. First flip of the tournament so did well to avoid any gambling but the one flip i made i lost!
Keep running deep but not getting to the ft yet!
