Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is BB with J :diamond: A :diamond:
UTG raises to $0.25, 1 fold, BTN calls $0.25, SB calls $0.20, Hero calls $0.15

Flop: ($1.00) A :club: 4  2 :diamond: (4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($1.00) 3 :spade: (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.50, UTG folds, BTN calls $0.50, SB folds

River: ($2.00) 9 :club: (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $1.20, Hero folds
Maybe the problem started earlier in the hand. But AS PLAYED: I nearly never see myself ahead here. There is no hand, which he would call the turn, and turn it into a bluff on the river, because the board is so drawless.. He obviously doesnt have a set, he'd have bet the flop with it. I only beat a bluff here. I doubt he bets with weak Ax hands here. I exclusively put him on 55, 56s, A3, A9, 99... argh

Hello,

You could definitely think about squeezing preflop considering the amount of dead money in the pot. Although I wouldn't say that calling here is bad.

On the flop checking is fine.

Why do we bet so small on the turn here? I prefer betting like $0.7.

As played, I'd bet like $1 on the river against weaker Ax.
When you checked, I think folding against a bet is fine.

Best,
Plamen

Why is it ok to bet 1$, but not ok to call 1$? OTR
I see this general tendency: in some situations we can bet, but cant call a bet. Why does it apply here?

Since people on these limits, in general, are quite more inclined to call a bet, than to make a bet themselves.

This said, I think an average NL10 opponent will be more inclined to call here with A7 rather than to bet it himslef on the river.

So, assuming this, I think most of the time there will only be better hands which are going to bet on the river.

On the contrary, hero's line looks quite weak when he bets so small on turn and checks river. That's why vill. could even bet with A7 etc. for value.
