I had bet on Nadal to win wimbledon, earned quite a lot of money, around 3.5:1 , last year I had bet on federer and won money.

Tennis seems to be the only predictable sport these days...... ♦

Tennis is only predictable when its a good player vs a no mark. Tennis isn't a good sport to bet on imo.

I dont get why people bet on multiple different outcomes, in one event. You are loosing money straight away, before they even hit a ball.

The only way I find this as a good strategy, is if you are double dutching on an outcome. That way both can still earn you money. Therefore none of them are guaranteed to loose.

An uncle of mine bets alot on the nascar, and tbh, I dont think the odds are any good. Just like in the grand prix, the odds are really bad.

Arjun congrats on winning your wimbeldon bet. 3.5-1 odds aren't that great though. Have to lay to much money on that type of bet. Hope you bet alot on that one. At the conclusion of that match the commentators said something very interesting. Roger federer will probably win the most grand slams for a career. But rafael nadal will eventually pass him. Think federer is now 26 and nadal is only 22. They also stated that this may be a passing of the torch, that nadal will win some more slams. So I guess whenever you can bet on nadal with good odds you should take it.

Yeah your right cannell racing odds don't seem to be that great. As far as nascar goes once race 26 is over the next 10 races after that is nascar's version of the playoffs. Only the top 12 drivers in the standings are eligible. Top 12 after race 26. A few of the drivers are paying not too bad. A couple of the drivers I like are paying 12-1 odds. If I bet $10 on say 2 drivers that paid out 12-1 my potential winnings would be $120.00. A profit of $100.00. With only 12 drivers in the chase, having money on 2 of them are pretty good odds.

Watched a bit of the british open today. Four of my five golfers are still in it. Mike weir shot a +1 today and stephen ames is at +3. Leaders are at -1. Still got a chance, I don't feel overly confident though.

NHL futures for the stanley cup are already out. Anyone out there have a favourite to win it all next year? A team im looking at thats paying alot it the tampa bay lightning. There paying 22-1. Im gonna get some of that action. They added a few players this year and I think they can contend in the east this year. What do all of you think?

I'd have to say Golf is the best sport to bet on. American college sports aren't bad either - just bet on the home team 80% of the time.

I've picked the winner in 4 out of 6 golf tourneys this year (Els, Cink, Perry, and Kim) but things aren't necessarily looking so great this week. That British Open course is ridiculous. My six-pack for Milwaukee is still mostly in good contention, with Perry/Campbell/Baird/Pavin all T-11 and John Merrick is in there as well.

The NBA playoffs were my most profitable sport so far this year...but I'm going to be spending a ton on the NFL. NFL was the first sport I bet on and was very profitable.

Straddler: Tampa Bay has a great offense, but be careful of their defense. Carle and Wishart, the guys they got from SJ are going to be good but I don't think Wishart will be ready to step it up this year.

Honestly, Chicago has a really good shot.

Hey kelekin. Hows it going? Yeah I agree you get some great odds with the golf. You can pick who you think is going to win, leader after the first round, and some other good odds. I don't dip into college that much. Mainly college football if I bet at all. Good luck on your milwaukee picks. Day two is over at the british. Most of my picks are down the drain. Still got stephen ames at +3. Four shots back. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse than day 1. Lots of wind expected tommorrow. Hey you never know. Im not expecting to cash in this weekend anyways. I will also be betting lots of nfl this year. I like playing the spreads. Any idea of where favre will end up this year. I heard that minnesota was tampering. Don't know if he will end up there though. It could be a good fit though. Anyone lay a futures bet on who will win it all this year in the nfl. If you pick a team make sure its from the nfc, not a whole lot of competition in that conference. If you pick a team thats paying alot from the nfc you never know they could make it to the superbowl. And once that nfc team gets to the superbowl anything can happen. A team im looking at right know from the nfc is the carolina panthers. No im not crazy. Carolina is paying 60-1 on party bets, probably more on other books. They added muhammad and dj hackett to their receivers. Its not the steve smith show anymore. THey now have lots of options down the middle. Carolina has always had a pretty good defence but weren't able to score many points. I think that they will be able to score a little bit more this year. What do you all think? If they can't win the superbowl, I would think that they would have a pretty good chance at winning their own division.

Yeah kelekin wishart might not even make the team, might spend some time in the minors this year. Carle is a good stay at home defencemen though. I think that tampa bay is paying the most at 22-1 that has a decent chance at winning it all. Chicago is an up and coming team. They have lots of talent. I think they can make the playoffs this year but thats it, I don't see them doing anything. Kinda like when pittsburgh made the playoffs a couple of years ago. Pittsburgh came up agains the senators and they got their buts kicked. Chicago would probably lose in the first round but it would be a good learning experience and would definitely do better in the following year. Thats what I think. Mainly because the players on chicago have little playoff experience.

Moving along I want to hear everyones picks on the following sports.

Who will win the nascar championship this year?
Who will win the superbowl?
Who will win the world series in baseball?
Who will win the stanley cup?

I need some insight.

Nascar - I gotta go with Busch. The kid has too much talent.
Super Bowl - My favourite team is the Colts, but I honestly like Dallas' chances this year. Their young defensive core was already strong, and now they're a bit more mature, and they've made some decent additions.
World Series - I still like the Mets, but there's a lot of teams that could take it. Milwaukee is the team I'd like to see win it.
Stanley Cup - Detroit, back to back. Hands down. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Hossa? Sick.

British Open...well, I have K.J. Choi and Anthony Kim still up there. I took Norman after the 2nd, which is looking good right now. Kim I have on a T-5 so I'm okay if he doesn't win, but both Norman and Choi are outright. Choi is 100-1 and Norman 25-1. I really hope Harrington doesn't win, I'd lose a lot of money if he did.

Milwaukee: Have Campbell T-12 and Perry T-30. Bah.

Also, Carolina is definitely underrated. Delhomme is back. But, it's going to be a fairly even division outside of Atlanta. Honestly I think Tampa Bay has a good shot. Jeff Garcia might still have something left (and I root for him because he used to play in my city in the CFL), but look at their receiving core this year. Antonio Bryant was injured last year but was an above-average #2 receiver before injury. Galloway, Bryant, Hilliard are a decent top 3.

If I had to pick the division winners right now, without any extensive research:

AFC East: New England
AFC North: Cleveland (Tough division)
AFC South: Indianapolis (Some people believe it'll be Jacksonville - I don't believe Garrard is good enough)
AFC West: San Diego

Wildcards: Denver, Jacksonville

NFC East: Dallas
NFC North: Green Bay (If they don't get caught up in the drama)
NFC South: Carolina
NFC West: Arizona (You heard it here first)

Wildcards: New York, Tampa?

Hey kelekin. With nascar I don't think I will throw a bet down on ky.busch. He has been the best driver this year but he isn't paying too much. Have too lay too much juice. I think Im going to bet on j.gordon or m.kenseth. Former winners and ky.busch hasn't won it before, theres much more pressure in the chase. It doesn't matter how u have done all year, the last ten races count the most. Have you placed a nascar bet yet? Im placing my bets on party bets and I could have sworn that the odds have gone down since last week. I think this trend will continue as we get closer to the chase.

Yeah the colts will do well this year. I think they will at least get to the afc conference final game. I don't really like dallas's chances though.

As far as baseball goes Im not really a huge fan but if I could take one team I think I will go with the angels.

Detroit is favoured to win it all this year. They got a stacked team. But again no value with the favourite. Maybe someone from the east this year. Could happen. Pittsburgh, tampa bay, montreal or maybe ottawa. Or is it toronto's year. Ha Ha, LoL. Probably not.

My british picks are pretty much done now. Unless mike weir shoots a course record tommorrow.

Have you placed any futures bets on the nhl or nfl yet? I agree with most of your nfl picks. I don't think arizona or denver can make it though. But if you think they have a chance throw down a bet you never know.

Theres a few events that I would like to bet on. What do you think about the controversey thats going on over there heading into the olympics regarding the human rights issue? Do you think that there will be an incident during the olympics?

I don't think I'll be playing to much during the week. Think I'll wait till the weekend and bet on the brickyard. Who do you like in that race? Maybe some golf.

I think China has a really good shot to win the most medals. Russia and U.S. are going to be the other members of the top 3. I'm not surprised about the controversy...but the controversy should've been more notable 7 or 8 years ago when they were SELECTING the place to hold the olympics.

In the brickyard..I'll have a better answer on Wednesday. I don't look at NASCAR this early. Same with golf.

Hey cannell. Whats up? We bet to make money. Cannell are you a nascar fan? If so who do you think will win the brickyard on sunday? And you can't say ky.busch because there is no value with him. Cannell are you a hardcore better or just someone who lays down a bet every now and then.

If you know a bit about sports theres opportunities to make money with bets. Picking the favourites is almost always wrong. Simply because the favourites don't pay out that much, you would have to bet alot to make up for the poor odds. Depending on the sport too I guess.

What kind of sports are you into cannell?

Alright so my six-pack for this week for the Canadian Open is Kim, Weir, Villegas, Imada, Baird, and Mills. Didn't think there was enough value with Furyk and this isn't the course he won at the last two years. The only thing was I didn't take Nicholas Thompson this week (this is his first year on tour but he's a good player) and of course he's T-4. There's still about 40 golfers who haven't started their round yet, due to weather. But temporarily, Weir and Kim are tied for the lead so that's a good thing.

And it appears Imada pulled out before the event started...so I hope I can get that money back.

You could say I am a hardcore bettor I suppose. I'm not into nascar at all. I'm english so dont bother with any foreign sports. The most of my betting is on the horse racing nowadays. I have built a roll over the last 5 years. So I now bet pretty high stakes.

The reason I said "do you bet for fun?" is because you'ze said olypic betting sounds like fun. Which I find to be a bizarre comment tbh.

My main sports are horse and greyhound racing, darts, and abit of football. If I see a nice price on another sport though, I do take a punt. My brother is a professional gambler, and he often finds alot of value in politics betting, and none sports bets. Which I often follow his leed!

Kelekin who are your brickyard picks? I got j.gordon at 20-1, and j.burton at 33-1, those are the only two picks I have made so far. Think im also going to take j.mcmurray at 80-1, who knows anything can happen. Also might take a look with dale jr and g.biffle. Thats five so I better stop there.

I'm waiting til after qualifying for updated odds to pick, but I am going to be taking JP Montoya for sure though I would prefer to get him on a T-4 bet but my sportsbook doesn't have one up right now. Gordon, Stewart, Kenseth, and Montoya will be my picks but I really hope that T-4 comes up.

I dont like the idea of betting on multiple winners like that! You have lost before they even start. Sure if there is two potential winners (in your eyes) then back the two if the odds are good enough to double dutch. Apart from that atleast four of your five have lost before they begin.

I think anyone that backs against Liverpool in the champions league this season is a little crazy tbh. It is starting to click together really nice. Look at when they won it, to the team they have now! Plus Rafa's never say die attitude, I don't think theres value in any team this year, and I wont be betting on it.

And yes, I live a 1 minute walk from Anfield, but that opinion isn't biezed, just look at the squad.

Hey kelekin. I like your picks for the race. Montoya is an interesting pick though. Theres value with him. I have a couple of sportsbooks that I work with and the best I could get stewart was 7.5-1. Not interested but I think he will be a force in this race, defending winner of this race. Think I'll stay away from kenseth as well. Good luck with the race.

Hey cannell. If I bet 5 drivers I know going in that only 1 of the drivers can win. But if any of my drivers happen to win and I still come out ahead then I think thats okay.

Yeah I think liverpool has a chance. Im also a liverpool fan. The best liverpool game I saw was in the champs league against ac milan. Think they were down 3-0 at halftime and came back to win in penalties. That was a great game. I think I may put a bet on liverpool. How do you think they will do in the premiership this year? I can't see them doing any better than third or fourth.

Cannell, in Nascar, few drivers win more than a couple races a year. So, if you only bet on one person all year long, generally that person's odds are 12-1 or lower and you're going to lose doing that.

The T-4 is fairly ideal for Nascar.
