CO: t3515 70.30 BBs
BTN: t2865 57.30 BBs
SB: t655 13.10 BBs
Hero (BB): t1965 39.30 BBs

Pre Flop: (t75) Hero is BB with K♣ J♥
CO raises to t200, 2 folds, Hero raises to t1965 all in

Final Pot: t425
Hero mucks K♣ J♥
Hero wins t425

Villain was being a bully at this table and doing a lot of newb moves like 4x raising pre-flop, and overbetting the pot every hand. Considering his high vpip from my HUD, I figured he was raising a lot of weak hands and I decided to take a stand with KJo. He showed one card which was an ace before he folded. My HUD had him as a LAG.

What do you think?

Thanks,

MB

Hi maythany,

You have the right idea here about not letting bullies be bullies, and if the blinds were 50/100 I would like this move much more. However, straight 3bet shoving 40BBs is not going to be a good enough risk/reward ratio, although he will fold alot he will pick up a hand enough here and will likely call off lighter than he should (from what I know about aggro fish anyways). I would just take a flop here and let him use his own aggression against him postflop when you flop top pair, if you flop a hand such as an open ended straight draw on say a QTx flop you can just checkraise and call it off (obviously hoping he folds to the initial checkraise). I think you gain alot more value by peeling preflop than shipping 40bb in with the hopes of winning 5.5bb.

Alternatively you can 3bet much smaller to 450 hoping he flats so you can take initiative and stack off with any pair, but if you think he will just stick it in your eye enough I would not take this option, I would tend to just like peeling here. if blinds were 50/100 and he made it 400 (or even 200 for that matter, but in this case you'd have a better risk/reward ratio) I would like the shove alot more.

The main point is against this guy if he happens to have a hand this time you're done, in a spot where he could have given you an easy double up had you just waited for a better spot.
