0.05/0.10 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (10 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: Texas Grabem 1.9 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is BU with Q♦, T♦
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO calls, Hero calls, SB calls, BB checks.

Flop: (7.00 SB) 4♦, 8♦, A♣ (7 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 bets, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, CO calls, Hero raises, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls, MP2 folds, CO calls.

Basic strategy say bet or raise just once, i understand this well? Its best play raise there?
Turn: (7.00 BB) 3♣ (3 players)
UTG+1 checks, CO checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, CO calls.

I have initiative there and bet because only 2 opponents.
River: (10.00 BB) 9♣ (3 players)
UTG+1 checks, CO checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 10.00 BB

Play I this hand well based on basic strategy, have this play +EV, or I something misunderstand?

Is a better way how play this hand?

Thanks for advice, qwery1.

hi qwery1 and welcome to the forum
i like the flop raise. you are on the BU so you might be able to take a free card on the turn + with so many players in the pot it´s also for value to raise a flush draw. i think i would even cap it for the same reasons.
i check behind the turn. there is no way you have the best hand right now and they will never ever fold an A here. just check and give up the hand if you don´t hit. i think i would even fold the river if i hit a Q and somebody bets... the pot is big though but i just think you are behind against an A here almost 100% of the time. maybe a bit weak on that limit.

Thank you very much for advice and nice welcome.PS helped my game a lot, I play since nov/dec 2007, but I must start again when I read articles on PS.

Free card is good advice, is possible sometimes decline from basic strategy like in this example? I saw in your other judges you prefer free card in this situations and bronze Turn and River play article advice bet in this situations. Is semibluf and possible fold only reason for this bet, or have it +EV fill the pot right here?

If only reason for this bet is possible oponents fold (semibluf), this Ace will be argument for check. What happend if this Ace is not here?

Thanks, qwery1.

Long story short is that very little if any better hands will fold to this bet, and maybe not even bottom pair. Taking a free card here has HUGE value associated with it because if you are on a draw you will take the free card every time if you have no fold equity, a bet is negative EV because you will improve ~20% of time but you're only getting a 1:3 return IF they both call and they won't fold.

The raise on the flop is ev+ because there are so many players who will probably call anyway + freecard effect is invaluable makes it super awesome.

It's the same if the ace isn't there, they won't fold their pairs with a bet also.

An important theme in winning microstakes limit is playing for value. Avoid semibluffs whenever possible unless you know they can easily fold, make raises only for value.
