Is it ok not to go for a valuebet on this river? UTG is a laggy lag sorta, BU seems fishy, had only played like 4 hands against him of which one he had AA and capped that one pf, but him coldcalling a 3b here with that hand sorta makes my read fair. Kinda surprised there wasnt any action from UTG here... anyway, the J hits alot of hands here i think...

PokerStars - $1/$2 (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

CO: $24.17
BTN: $29.11
SB: $35.58
BB: $31.75
UTG: $57.54
Hero (MP): $24.00

SB posts SB $0.50, BB posts BB $1.00

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero has K♥ A♠

UTG raises to $2.00, Hero raises to $3.00, fold, BTN calls $3.00, fold, fold, UTG calls $1.00

Flop: ($10.50, 3 players) 2♠ T♦ K♦
UTG checks, Hero bets $1.00, BTN calls $1.00, UTG calls $1.00

Turn: ($13.50, 3 players) 6♥
UTG checks, Hero bets $2.00, BTN calls $2.00, UTG calls $2.00

River: ($19.50, 3 players) J♦
UTG checks, Hero checks, BTN checks

Spoiler

UTG shows 7♦ 8♦ (Flush, King High) (Pre 30%, Flop 39%, Turn 29%)
BTN mucks Q♥ T♥ (One Pair, Tens) (Pre 30%, Flop 14%, Turn 10%)
Hero mucks K♥ A♠ (One Pair, Kings) (Pre 40%, Flop 47%, Turn 62%)
UTG wins $18.72

Depending on reads (and who is raising), I'd

  1. bet-call
  2. bet-fold
  3. check-call

in the listed order of default priority. The button is quite unlikely to bet a worse hand for you or bluff into two players on that board.

You should probably put the results in a spoiler.

Well it's certainly a value bet

in 3-bet pots there are on averge going to be less combos of flushes in your opponent's range

That said you are going to have the following better hands than AK:

AA, KK, JJ, TT, 66 (maybe), KJs, KTs (maybe),

So really AK is going to be towards the bottom of your value-betting range so I think bet/folding here is more than likely fine although may be slightly on the exploitative side

How mzny worse hands are in you range fro 3-betting UTG preflop are in your range here for betting?

I count KQ and QQ so this is certainly not automatic by any stretch

That said from a balnce perspective I believe this is a bet/call however I don't think bet/folding here is horrible by any stratch, especailly if it goes bet/call/x-raise

never said it was an automatic bet/call .. that was just what i think would be best. I see that board. and Im not inclined to be "that" afraid of the board. Of course its one hell of a bad river. completing flush and straight draws. etc. but since both of our opponents check/call. I don't believe that they would have the strongest hands. even UTG might just be calling down with KQ and btn is no doubt having a hand like 7 high. dont worry about him basically (I wouldn't is that wrong?) So all we should focus on is whether we are losing to UTG. I don't think i would bet QQ here on the river certainly KQ most like because then id think there wouldn't be many queens in his range. enough to give him the straight. Also if he had something like AQ he wouldn't or rather shouldn't call that turn right ?

btn could very well have a fd. but i dont think he will have that enough for us to check with AK and lose a potential 1 or 2 BB when we are ahead on the river.
