Poker Stars $0.02/$0.04 Limit Hold'em - 3 players -
Hand History Converter

Pre Flop: (1.5 SB) Hero is BB with Q :spade: T
BTN raises, 1 fold, Hero calls

Flop: (4.5 SB) 3 :club: 8 :spade: 5 :club: (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets, Hero calls

Turn: (3.25 BB) T :spade: (2 players)
Hero bets, BTN calls all in

River: (3.75 BB) A :diamond: (2 players - 1 is all in)

I dunno if the call on the flop was a correct play, probably not.
Still done is done and I want to hear some opinion on what just happened.

your only asking about this hand because he rivered the Ace ? :)

its a no brainer. wp .. you have two overcards and he is a shortstack. To me it be a death sin to fold .

No the Ace didn't factor in at all in any way in this hand. ;)
(But I guess that was a major criterion in my earlier analisis threads)

Well I guess the overcards just barely make the positive EV with implied odds...
Not that I was able to see that before I posted the hand though. _confused:

I'm curius is there any other reasoning behind calling since he is short stacked?

no not one bit. i would have called with ATC basically on that flop since i knew he only had 1½BB left.

Ahh...
Cause basically you are getting the river for free.
So if he hits something he can't punish you for it.
Giving you not 6 outs to your ATC but effectively 12 outs since you get two cards.
EV+ indeed! =D

This was very enlightening. :)

Hi!

Despite not really much going on in the hand, its not really played perfectly.

When playing a guy this short you can basically raise him AI on any semifavourable flop and this one certainly is. Sure you will get called pretty much always and you dont have anything but...

1.you still beat a reasonable part of his range that didnt hit this board and when behind you are likely drawing to 6 outer which is very live
2. you cant fold this flop anyway so the only difference is 1BB
3.if you just call, what do you do on turn when he goes AI for 1BB and it bricks? you still beat many hands which will not be able to bluff you on the river! and and if behind two overs still count for something...so you will prolly have to call again but decition will be much harder then
4.also if turn goes check/check you will face another though decition on the river

so...raising flop putting him AI is certainly my preffered line

Call is not bad by any means,it will however put you in many more though spots which will force you make mistakes which you can completely avoid on the flop.

Turn is bigger problem though...I would never ever donk this vs a guy with just 1BB left. If he has something that he wants to SD it doesnt really matter since that 1BB will go in anyway either on turn or river

So it only matter vs bluffs. If he has some complete air hand you actually give him an excuse to fold. On the other hand,if he intends to call blindly then I see no reason why he will not bluff this same hand if you check to him.

Sure it may not be a big difference but Im sure donking here will collect 1BB less on some occations(is this word correct:) ) when he goes and folds.
