Hey adasko99,
Personally I don't see the difference between a split and non-split pot being raked.
Both players are using the site to play poker and each rightfully deserve to be raked the same amount.
Regards,
Kyle.
Hi, adasko99
At showdown, the pot is raked, then split.
Whether there is one winner or several, the TOTAL amount of the rake taken is exactly the same.
I believe that the same holds true live.
If you can find a casino where split pots are NOT raked, please let us know...
Cheers,

There are many casinos where split pots aren't raked the same as online. My gf is dealer and i asked her how is rake regarding split pots.
She said that things can differ a bit from casino to casino.
For example.
Three players are involved on turn.
Player 1: Bet
Player 2: Call
Player 3: Call
Pot = 100
River:
Player 1: Bet 50
Player 2: Call
Player 3: Fold
final Pot= 200
Showdown result = Split
In this case rake is not paid from 200 but from 100.
So for sure it is not always the same as it is online.
Hey everyone
I don't know why some rake and others don't. I know that the one time I played in a casino the casino didn't take rake from split pots.
This is copied from their website and translated via google translate.
Daily from 20h (registration open from 19h)
Table 1:
Small Blind = € 1
Big Blind = € 2
Buiy-in € 50, € 400 maximumTable 2:
Small Blind = € 2
Big Blind = € 4
Buy-in € 100, € 800 maximumThe rake in cash games is 5% with a cap of € 20 for a table with blinds € 1 - € 2 (ie pot over € 400 is also only 20 € deducted).
The rake in cash games is 5% with a cap of € 25 for a table with blinds € 2 - € 4 (ie pot over € 500 is also only 25 € deducted). The flop is not provided: no rake.
Pot less than € 10: no rake.
Split Pot: no rake.
Side pot: first rake from main pot, then to the side pot.

This is interesting.
I had not thought much about this before.
It always bugged me that I would lose money when I actually "won" at least half the pot.
But there is a tactical side too.
When the nuts are on the board, if you call, you lose less (usually), but if you shove, there is the chance that the opp will fold, in which case you win a little.
That sounds like a great casino, Ras !
The only ones within driving distance of me don't have limits that low.

The main question is: why do poker rooms implemented rake system? they do not paid for the place, table, or dealer. It's all done by software and relatively very very cheap compared to live.
Edit: I mean they should implemented more friendly rake like because the cost is cheap. For example: take fee or tax 50% on withrawl

U have no idea how much security costs. I can only guess how much Pokerstars for example spend on Security, but I'm sure its huge amount of money. On top of it you have customer support and thats not cheap as well. Then you have internet marketing which is not very cheap either (I mean you want them to promote their site so fish can come, right?)

fee on wd is more realistic way to count the cost.
And it's more fair imo. you paid fee when you profit. Something like "tax". Poker rooms can easily count how much % they get for every wd.I think the correct answer is the previous post: MONEY.
And poker community (players) are too dumb because they (as customer) are willing to pay such a big cost.
UK based casinos not raking split pots i am aware of:
G Casinos
Genting
I'm just wondering what's the reasoning for both : online poker rooms and live poker rooms to either rake it or not.
Some ideas on why live casinos might forego the rake on split pots...
♦ Live casinos can make enough on food and drink to cover the cost of not raking split pots.
♦ When the chips come to you is is SO obvious you lost $ or £ even though you won, and it bothers some people.
♦ The goodness of their ♥

Yeah this makes sense. Also they have to keep the people happy. When playing online the rooms know that people will play. In a casino you want people to come back otherwise they might go somewhere else. I know they'll always have people playing, but the traffic is way less then online so every person is welcome.
This is me guessing though! But it would make sense.
I used to be a dealer (Brighton, UK) and as a policy we never raked split pots.
Just house rules guys ♦
