Hi mlatasrb

If villain would have a float he would almost always bet the turn so checking the river in hopes he bets it for us with a weaker hand is a mistake imo.

I doubt he valuebets thin enough nor does he have much to bluff with.

So I would be the one betting river.

I would bet river if 8 didnt come. I hoped he bets busted fd on river or "value bets" 78.

What weaker calls me when I bet river? just 44, 55, and 99, and it is a question if he calls it. He could even have a QQ, or KK, AA on river, wouldnt be surprised to see that. Fish surprise me every day with their moves, so I am a bit carefull when I have thin value as here

How about a hand like he showed up with?

Can we not expect A high to call the river given the action/board?

Do you think that average fish knows that when all draws miss his A high is good, so that he can call? I didnt know it when I was playing e.g. NL10 as a regg, and I know that my 2 friends who are learining poker on pokerstrategy, and I help them, that they dont anylise the board and what could villian have at all, and the guy plays NL10, so if they dont do it, how can I expect random fish to do it?

I think he calls flop only to hit A or J, not because he thinks he has the best hand. I rarely see from fish calling A high.

I see what you mean and I agree that we shouldn't expect them to read the board or the hands.

And it's true that they call to hit but if you bet 1/3-1/4 pot I definitely see him calling at least some Ax. They do know A is a high card at showdown, which is the basic stuff.
