Was the shove correct? should I have just 3bet?

BTN: 3,500 (11.7 bb)
SB: 3,563 (11.9 bb)
Hero (BB): 6,437 (21.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A 3
BTN raises to 600, SB folds, Hero raises to 6,412 and is all-in, BTN calls 2,875 and is all-in

Flop: (7,175) Q T 5 (2 players, 2 are all-in)
Turn: (7,175) K (2 players, 2 are all-in)
River: (7,175) 5 (2 players, 2 are all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

7,175 pot
Final Board: Q T 5 K 5
BTN showed K Q and won 7,175 (3,675 net)
Hero showed A 3 and lost (-3,500 net)

Hi all,

With 12bb effective we can't 3bet/fold. I like shoving as a default, unless our opponent has typically been shoving his ~12bb stack.
