Hello everyone!
I've decided to make my long time dream come true and become a winning poker player.
A little bit about myself:
I'm 25 years old. I have played a lot before, but to be honest I was just fooling around with NLHE, never have I taken it too seriously. My friends think I've lost large sums of monkey playing online poker which is not true I've actually made a small sum of money in the past 5 years let's say but it was all withdrawn this spring because I was moving. I've always had a little problem when it came to making the commitment to become a pro poker player. This problem was that poker is too tedious and boring in the long run to be grinding 6-7 hours a day to make a living and also too stressful.. Not worth it right? (For me at least.) That's what I thougt. This year september however I've been introduced to PLO and fell in love. Long story short I've decided to become the best player I can be, for now dedicating myself to be PLO specialist for now.
Why would I start a blog?
I'm no fool. Becoming a pro player is not easy. One would need a lot of support when doing so and no place better to get suport than a poker community right? Also I would prefer not discussing this with my friends for now as when I am with them I would prefer to avoid poker as a subject to let my brain reboot. I've learned that the brain needs to regenerate motivation from time to time (which I found to be very true). Also this blog might turn out to be a nice source of insiration and motivation by itself so why the hell not do it? If this might help others to make the commitment then I'm already all for it.
Goals:
I've specified a number of goals for myself, I'd say these are medium term goals.
GENERAL GOALS:
- IMPROVE GAME (VIDEOS [MIN. 1/DAY], HAND REVIEWS [ANALYZE POSTED DAYLY, POST INTERESTING HANDS MYSELF])
- VOLUME (AS MANY AS POSSIBLE WITH A-GAME)
- DO BEST FOR GOOD GAME SELECTION
- LEARN TO HANDLE TILT
- ALWAYS PLAY A-GAME
- WARMUP BEFORE EVERY SESSION (REVIEW MARKED HANDS OF PREVIOUS SESSION PREFERABLY)
- CONCENTRATE ON GAME, ONLY ANALYZE AFTER SESSION
- QUIT SESSION WHEN ON TILT OR TIRED
- SOME KIND OF MOVEMENT BEFORE EVERY SESSION (10MIN WALK)
PROGRESSIVE GOALS:
- BEAT PLO10 by the end of NOVEMBER (20bb/100 + (ALL IN EV))
- BEAT PLO25 by the end of DECEMBER (15bb/100 + (ALL IN EV))
- BEAT PLO50 by the end of FEBRUARY (10bb/100 + (ALL IN EV))
- BEAT PLO100 by the end of MAY (10bb/100 + (ALL IN EV)) [~90K]
- 5 BUYIN SHOT TAKING TO CLIMB LIMITS
- FOR PLO25 875$
- FOR PLO50 1750$
- FOR PLO100 3500$
- WHEN ON 30 BUYING REMAINING FOR THE SAME LIMIT, DROP (750$ -> Back to PLO10)
- UNDER 40BI -> 4 TABLES AT A TIME MAX, 3BI STOP LOSS
- ABOVE 40BI -> 6 TABLES AT A TIME MAX, 4BI STOP LOSS
I've written these goals a bit before november when I've made my decision final. Kind of funny to look at them now hah, let me explain some of there "progressive" goals. Progressive yeah as they are supposed to tell me how I should progress or whatever...
I have wanted to loose weight for a while now, I never been fat or anything just was never satisfied with myself. Either way I've decided that I'll take weight loss as seriously as I can and I've ended up losing about 13 kilos in 2 months which might not be very healthy, but it has proven to me, that the right way is indeed the RIGHT way. I should not be the one to invent stuff that already exist. I've decided to approach everything from now on as professionally as I can. Including poker. Especially poker. The result was that I've spent about 6 hours a day learning general stuff about poker and PLO in particular. Swings, rake, rakeback (PokerStars), variance, mental attitude etc you name it.... That is why I thought that these win rates and goals are possible at the time. So for now I'll try to stick to these.
Like I've said before, I've written down these goals before november and I'm also 1 month in on my "carreer". (I'm not planning to crush PLO10 in 3 days, shocking right?)
Some general thoughts:
Assuming I know nothing about PLO strategy other than rules I plan to get fundamental (really really really basic) strategy mastered by the end of november. This is not that impossible as I can watch videos and analyze hand / blogs pretty much about 30 hours a week but I can't play. (I'll maybe explain this later.) By the end of december I want to put advised strategies to use I'll talk about that in the next post right away, this is only supposed to give you an idea of the challenge. I'll also get some coaching sometime early next year. (Can't hurt)
I'll make a post right away from the first month but will only post graph later on as I don't have HM here now.
I'm not planning to apologize for my weak english and grammar in every post, so let me do so for the entire thread: I'M TRULY ASHAMED.. : (
For the first post thats it, wish me luck.
