Cookbook, massage gift certificate, cookies, shower gels, socks? You could bake your own cookies, that would be awesome.

I will be getting Mrs Vorpal a gift card for a coma.

Yes, you read that correctly.

It works like this:
On presentation of the card, the cardholder is entitled to a coma of up to 8 hours. The card holds 3 comas (24 hours)

Once invoked the person in the coma need do no work, go anywhere or be disturbed at all except by their own choice.

When all used up, the card can be reloaded by doing something nice for the issuer.

I got the idea when we were going over the long list of things we had to do, people we had to see, stuff we needed to buy/wrap/check/chuck etc.

I said, "I just wish someone would give me a 4-hour coma for Christmas"

We also made a rule this year:
Consumable items only. We have so much "stuff" around Vorpal manor that we're in danger of being driven out by our own accumulated crud.

Peace on earth, good will to all mankind,
--VS

(I borrowed that greeting from somewhere -- I wish I had made it up)

ps: If anyone you care about is in a real coma this Christmas, please accept my apologies, and my best wishes for their full recovery.
