Hello. I were profitable player at NL50 fullring & now I am moving to 6max, beating NL25 6max at the moment and just grinding levels up. Here's one hand I played today. What I did wrong or can I get more value? I think there's TT-KK, JT, QT, 9x something like that.

PokerStars Zoom No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from http://poker-tools.flopturnriver.com/Hand-Converter.php

Button ($26.71)
SB ($25.10)
Hero (BB) ($29)
UTG ($13.96)
MP ($66.40)
CO ($58.27)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9♣, 4♣
UTG raises to $0.75, 1 fold, CO calls $0.75, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.50

Flop: ($2.35) 9♥, 8♣, 8♠ (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, CO bets $1.40, Hero calls $1.40, 1 fold

Turn: ($5.15) 6♦ (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $3.10, Hero calls $3.10

River: ($11.35) A♥ (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $7.10, Hero raises to $23.75 (All-In), 1 fold

Total pot: $25.55

Spoiler

Hero didn't show 9♣, 4♣ (two pair, nines and eights).

When he follows through on that ace I dont know if I like a xrai since he will check the weaker part of his range behind.

Can't tell if this is a level, what do you mean "Get more value?" You do realize you had 94 not 84 right, so top pair no-kicker till the river where you have 2nd pair no kicker.

On the river there is no value in raising, you are absolutely turning your hand into a bluff which is in my opinion gonna be better than just calling but worse than just folding.

Preflop: Just a fold vs UTG open and CO call in my opinion. Calling 50c into $1.85 so the pot odds are quite good, but you are oop vs UTG and CO, needing to win the pot 22% of the time with 94s to break-even, which is tough to happen, especially when if lines like this go wrong ie he has Ax/8x and calls you, you just lost $25 from that 50c call. Don't see the x/c x/c x/r being +EV long term.

Flop: Most likely a fold after CO bets into 2 people you're probably not priced in for a call vs his range.

Turn: Clear fold when he fires again. 94 is crushed most of the time and not many river cards that can improve your hand.

River: I guess its not a terrible bluff card but you definitely can have a lot of busted draws that probably should be bluffing river instead. If you turn pairs into bluffs as well your frequencies will be way off.

Maybe in a vacuum on this hand and villain alone its a profitable line but your overall defending gameplan from bb is going to be so out of line if you're calling basically any 2 suited cards and refusing to fold any top pair.

Ye, I don't usually call that 94s on bb, but I had much reads from CO so I did that & hope to get HU with him. Overall I am same with you metza, good analysis:)

If you have reads CO is fish shouldn't we be more worried he can be betting Ax twice here then, he hits Ace on river and bet/calls? Or is your read that he's a nit and folds rivers every time? I think even AK should be a fold in his shoes vs this line but at the end of the day most people don't like to fold these hands.

I do think you can get folds from TT-QQ and KK by raising river if he has those hands, but if his range is mostly those we can just fold turn.

At the same time, your line does look really strong since basically nobody at these limits does this as a bluff. But I just would be concerned that a rivered ace is just gonna cry call even though even AK is just a bluffcatcher.
