Why did you call the flop?
i thought that maybe since i block a ton of straight draws that maybe I could continue his range just seems somewhat weak since there aren't many 2p combos probably like 2 T9s combos and 9 set combos so i thought that i could take it away later on in the hand

But what makes you think he has that many weak hands and that he will slow down so you can take it away?
Having weak/poor equity is definitely a problem as you can't really wait for a turn card to improve your hand as well (on top of being able to take pots away).
