awful river v2

this hand came up on the spanish forums, and I found it quite interesting. what would you do? everyone is unknown, although obviously BU is a fish (and we are quite fishy too, since we overlimped AJo, but that's a completely different issue ).

$0.02/$0.04 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (5 handed)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J:h, A:c.
2 folds, BU calls, Hero calls, BB checks.

Flop: (3 SB) J:d, 6:c, T:h (3 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, BU calls.

Turn: (3 BB) A:d (3 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, BU calls.

River: (6 BB) T:d (3 players)
Hero smashes the keyboard with his poker-hammer and bets[7color], BB raises, BU folds, Hero folds, BB gets uncalled bet back.

Final Pot: 7 BB.

anyway, bet-call? bet-fold? super weird check-raise?

In this situation I prefer to smash the mouse instead of the keyboard.

There are three reasons to smash-check-call (the mouse, not the keyboard). Firstly, the hand is too strong to bet-fold (nut two pair). Secondly, it is too expensive to bet-call in a tiny pot like this. Thirdly, the button is a fish. They like to bluff in spots like this when checked to. It's part of the reason they limp on the button.

So the decision is easy: smash-check-call!

River is check/call.

But lets not call pre-flop. You have a big hand, isolate the button and knock out the BB, if he comes along no issue either and most of his range will call. Hand doesn't play any better or worse, but build your pot with Ax here.

Isolation will get pretty wide K5+ or so for me.

thats why i said i wanted to choke myself if I were Hero :P I dont even want to comment on a hand where the idiot limps AJo .. he/she should actually try to read some articles about Open hand charts .. Such a bad play preflop makes post flop doesnt matter as you never should be in that position in the first place so there is no real reason for you or us to analyze postflop ..

Hi!

Preflop you are leaving too much value on the table by not raising.

Flop is clearly a bet and so is turn.

River is a bad card indeed but this is clearly a spot to bet and not to check. If you check you let worse hands check behind and most of them will do that(6x,Jx,pockets,maybe even Ax if they are bad and Ax are not even super likely due to preflop), on the other hand when you bet these hands will quite likely call.

So basically its a bet bet bet spot:) which is pretty much the case on these limits with TP or better:)
