How do you play small pairs from MP near the bubble?

In this one, I'm 19/48, 45 paid.
I'm no longer the big dawg at the table, but I have a decent stack.
The player immediately to my right makes a standard raise leaving half his stack behind -- why would he not shove here?

It smelt like trap, so I folded.

What is best here?

If he is a regular the sizing might as well indicate that he wants to get some fold equity out of his crappy stack, which he wouldn't have when open pushing.

Weaker players are more likely trapping. However, I wouldn't be willing to fold 55 in that situation based on a very unsecure read. Since I put smaller pockets in his range as well as A2 etc I would simply iso-push. The bubble shouldn't have a lot of influence on our decision imo. If we lose the hand it's not a big drama.

I think you did the right thing. First of all i wouldn't call a raise with 55 in MP and the M of 9. Looking at his stack i'm guessing he wants someone to call. And if you do call there is a chance that you get re-raised by the BTN or BB.
