5NL - AQ BTN open facing min 3b

Hi,

First of all I want to ask you - what would you do against a 5-bet if you 4-bet? Is this hand good enough to play for a big pot, even with these positions against a somewhat recreatonalish player?

Anyway, I think you could go for a small 4-bet of .45 to gain initiative AND value. Most likely he can do that min 3-bet with plenty of crap and he will most likely 5-bet with weird sizing with his nuts. Nothing overally wrong with calling, though, as it keeps the pot small and gives you more room post-flop to play against him.

I hate to do this without a equity calculator, but in case we 4b and get 5b I would probably 6b shove or fold. We can't really call since we will only get it in v worse when we hit top pair and he will fold out all under pairs, if we miss it will be a x/f.

Regarding to calling it might be the better option, I'm just not really sure what would be better.

Well, we don't have equity calculator in-game and we should try to have some sort of common understanding what to do. For instance, what his range could be for min 3-betting and stuff and how it would react against 4-bet.

I think if we are to 4-bet, we shouldn't go all-in as the hand would look a lot like "fish-trap" when he min 3-bets and min 5-bets or so. We won't be a favorite and we wouldn't have any fold-equity against 5-bet - so why to 5-bet?

And if he is out of control, it's only good it we hit tp. He might overplay Ax, some draws... Everything post-flop. Sometimes he has KK/AK, but we can play rather conservative especially with Qx top-pair if villain starts to play hard. We can also sometimes win the pot right on the flop if he just ch/folds, bets small, we have draws or something. So, calling wouldn't be a bad thing with position. A 4-bet/fold wouldn't be bad either, as the size of 4-bet would be only the size of a regular 3-bet.
