is river fold? I tought if I fold this hand I fold whole range, because I raise last fd on turn. reg could really do it with Asx, but I am not sure if this guy is reg and if he would do it.

Hi,

River is a call. We are the the top of our range here and he's betting worse hands like overpairs this way.

We should have raised the turn or flop for value. On top of the range that would have bet to river, we would have gotten value from spades and maybe even middle pairs that had a spade.

Thanks

Are you sure about raising? I was told before from coatches that I should just call with 2 pair, set on mono board, and bet vs check.

Also, why do you think that he overbets river with overbet? It is like we hope for a big overplay by him.

Hi,

I have flagged this thread for another opinion. I usually raise for value against spade draws and if we are up against a flush we have good equity on the flop.

River he's probably going for value, maybe 2p? Overpairs? Straight? Flush?

Thanks

I think he is also very unlikely to overbet straight or sets, two
Pairs unless he is big agro fish.

Do you also raise set when flush comes on turn to get value from draws?

Hi,

we have pretty little hands on him (meaning hes probably a fish) so i think we can play on our hand strength, if we had more hands and hes not very aggressive then i think we should be more cautious, meaning maybe fold river?

i dont raise set when flush completes on the turn (usually we cb flop and assuming he donks turn into us). now that u bring up this question i wonder if this is the same logic we should use for raising sets on monotone boards?

Thanks

hi,

I meant, the same preflop scenario, villian cbets flop, we call (somehow decided to call flop raise turn), and turn brings flush, villian cbets turn. So do you raise turn?
It could be also, we call flop with 2nd pair or overpair, and hit set on turn but flush completes.

I think his range should have similar number of flush combos and flush draws as on mono board like this hand (I assume most people bet bdfd combos), so if you raise flop on mono board, I think you can use the same arguments to raise turn when flush completes.

Also, if you raise flop with set, do you bet turn, shove river on blanks and expect to have value on river? Or how do you react vs 3bet on flop? He can 3bet for example overpair and fd, but it is not that we are huge favorite vs that (65%).

Hi,

you are talking about a 4 spades on board on the turn? raising turn would be turning our hand into a bluff. we are ahead of all non-spades, and behind spades. on a 4 card flush board even a set is just a bluffcatcher/drawing to the nuts

yes i agree that his range should have similar number of flush combos/draws and also maybe around 10% made flushes.

(assuming 2 spades and 1 diamond on flop and 3rd spade comes on turn) - yes i think we can also raise turn when flush completes for value (although i said i dont), and against a wide range i raise for value even though flush completes (but not on a 4 card spade board on the turn because all we have with the set is a bluffcatcher)

(assuming flop decision facing bet on monotone) - if i raise flop with set here, we are assuming we are ahead ( ok I'm not sure if we are, but lets assume so), then we should also be ahead on the turn and river if no more spades come and go ahead and bet bet for value.

3bet on flop is a little tricky especially in a single raise pot. in a 3betpot, pot is larger compared to stacks its not too big a mistake to go all in. however in a single raise pot when we face a 3bet on the flop after we raise, we are looking at a whole tonne of flushes and sets(neglibible and ignored). so we should count the odds assuming he has a flush, and whether we have implied odds to call to hit our full house, which means we can actually be folding because he just has the flush sooooo often.

FYI thread is still marked for another opinion.

Thanks

I meant 2 spades on flop and another comes on turn,
But ok you answered, thanks.

When you raise flop on mono board
and you assume you are ahead, why do you
assume you are ahead on turn and river? Imo it depends how
many combos he folds on flop turn and river, so it can be that
You have value on flop but not on turn or
Not on river (no another spade comes). So i think thats the case
We dont have value on river, so thats why i wouldnt raise.

Hi,

Most of what called the flop would also call the turn, maybe 30% of it would fold. On the river all draws would have busted, and he's left with the pair and busted draw which is usually weak and cannot call a raise so I would not raise river too. The only real hand that can call river raise would be the flush already.

Thanks
