I have been playing on pokerstars for a while and would like to continue with them. Is there another way of getting bronze without downloading a new poker software?

As Matt pointed out, you can buy the points needed for any level you want for as long as you want.
Once you have achieved ANY status, when the time period of your purchase expires, you will be bronze (at least) fore ever after.
