Hello everyone,

My name is Alex and i'm from Romania. I decided to take poker seriously a few months ago! I want to start a blog mainly because i think it will help me to improve my game. Also i'm in a bit of a downswing period combined with poor decisions so i think this blog it is what i need!
My bankroll is 35$ and i play 0.25 45 max at PokerStars. I do not have a specific goal to achieve. I want to improve my game and move up through the limits.

Should i bet on the turn too? I thought he may have a flush draw in his range, so i prefer to check on the turn. What is your opinion, guys?

Personal I newer call pre-flop first in. I raise to 125 here with 44, but on the 25c’s is it not a big problem to call here for set value with passive players in it.
As played I bet maximum 2/3 (133) pot on flop for value and protection.
Turn I like the check to control the pot OOP (out of position). Is likely the CO could hit the turn and set is not so strong any more with 4 cards of straight on board and flush is indeed possible.
River is a nice value bet of you.

Further I wish you good luck with your blog :gl:

Cheers,

Thanks a lot! One of my problems is that i don't exactly know how to play small pairs from early or middle position so most of the times i choose to just call.

It may sounds like a fish question but i have played for a little time with HM. Why when i lose my cEV and $EV are green and when i win are red?

This has to do with the amount of equity you had on the moment your all-inn. If you win 100% of the time EV (expect value) and profit will be same. Most of the time if you go all-inn pre-flop all-inn with AA you have around 80% equity against him. Let say the pot is 1.000 on the moment you going all-inn. Than is the EV 800 chips and if you lose you get nothing and if you win 1.000. If you win you get 200 chips more than you expected on the long run. So that’s why you see red figures if you win the hand and green figures based on EV.

Hopefully it’s clear enough and otherwise don’t hesitate to ask it.

I’m most likely calling on flop and her-evaluate the turn, because I don’t want to scare him away and I want his weaker hands bluff here. In this case it works perfectly for you.

Thanks for the explanations SDK1987! Thanks iSoOwnYou! good luck you too!

In a few days my HM 2 trial expires and i decided to buy a license. I downloaded Poker Tracker too, just to see how it is and beside the design i didn't notice anything different. Looking on Poker Tracker site,i saw they have a 10% discount for PokerStrategy members, so my question is, should i buy it or not? Does it have any disadvantages?

I expect it makes not to much different if you use HM2 or PT4 and 10% discount is always nice. I have newer used PT4, but I newer heard complains about the software and for both you get support on our forum. You can always try PT4 first and than you can always makes the decision with software you want to buy.

I most likely bet flop here for value and protection, but your line is also fine I think to hold pot small out of position. River value bet is close with 2 over cards on this board, but worked well for you this time.

Guys, as you know i'm a beginner and one of my biggest problem is playing against fish or loose players. Almost every session i'm in this type of situation: let's say i raise with AK/AQ/AJ and i get called by 2-3 guys; i miss the board on the flop or i get a draw. The problem is that if i cbet,i usually get called and most of the times i miss the turn also and i don't really know what to do ( if i barrel again the villain will call me with lots of things; if i check, most of the time they bet and i have to fold). On the other hand if i check on the flop, most of the time they bet and again, i'm in a difficult situation.

Another thing that is hard to understand for me is that some guys limps with lots of junk and with premium hands also, and this makes putting on a range incredible hard for me. Do you have any suggesion on how should i approach this kind of situations?

You’re playing the 25c stakes. In those games the players don’t like to fold. So is not smart to bet as bluff, but only for value. If your multi way is it I think better to check the flop if you missed. The change someone hit is bigger than you play only against 1 player and you don’t want to donate more chips to them. So if someone bet you folding the hand and wait for a better spot to invest your chips.

Even for good players is it difficult to understand why players limping with junk and premium hands, but you need to deal with it. If someone limped/re- raise pre-flop when you isolating him with a raise is it more likely he play a hand like QQ-AA or something. Than you have an easy fold.

If someone called your raise after your isolation raise he has most of the time not a strong hand and if you play in position is it most of the time easy to win the hand after a cbet on the flop.

Also a smart idea is to make notes about your opponents. If you see some unexpected moves you can make a note about it and you know more about him if you play again against him.

Hopefully this helped a bit.

Cheers,
SDK1987

Pre-flop is fine, but you can also raise to approximately 175 to isolate the weaker UTG player. That I always do in a spot like this.

As played is maybe possible to get some value on flop on his min-bet, but is close.
He most likely was doing it with a kind of draw and sometimes with a made hand (2 pair, set or straight).

Turn I check too. Is likely he played an Ax hand or 4x hand like that. Also you have some showdown value and I don’t think you have a value bet here.

On river he bets a decent amount and don’t think most players on the 25c games doing it as bluff. So a fold is best here.
