Hello,

This is FT, 6 paid - the opener is a winning regular, but not like others he is not opening very wide ranges later positions ~only around 30% BTN over 300 hands, also not folding much to 3bets. Obviously the 3bet is quite standard vs that range here with TT; On the flop I think I can definitely cbet, but on the turn I got quite lost, what do you think is optimal play here, should I shove myself or x/c or x/f? Shoving seems like the best option even though I don't think he is folding hands like AJ or JT KJ he might have called the 3bet with.

PKR, $30 Buy-in (500/1,000 blinds, 125 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 6 Players

CO: 18,828 (18.8 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with T T
3 folds, BTN raises to 2,000, Hero raises to 4,950, BB calls 2,070 and is all-in, BTN calls 2,950

Flop: (13,720) 9 8 J (3 players, 1 is all-in)
Hero bets 4,000, BTN calls 4,000

Turn: (21,720) 3 (3 players, 1 is all-in)
Hero checks, BTN bets 19,037 and is all-in, Hero ???

Hi all,

Despite our equity advantage against our opponent's range, this is not a particularly good hand to 3bet in the context of this tournament as the hands we induce shoves from (AJ/AQ/suited broadways/pairs) are often flipping against us, as are the hands that peel our 3bet in position. This is normally not a major issue but as the clear 2 chipleaders on the final table with 3 shorter stacks it is a major concern. To mitigate this, we can either shove preflop or just flatcall.

Flop I like a check. With our OESD backup we fear a lot less turn cards, and if flop goes check/check we never have to fold any turns.

Once we've bet the flop I see no choice but to check/call this bet on the turn. Again it's a spot where I don't see any purpose in firing ourselves. We block worse hands that can call us off, like T9/T8 so really we isolate ourselves against better.
