Playing KK
Let say that you are at the start of a tournament. You don t really know your opponents and everybody has got his starting stack. You re in early position with KK. You 4 bet and one opponent in middle position calls, everybody else fold. Flop comes 5h 9s Ad . No draws but an A. You re in position and think that your opponent called with a range of AK up to A 10, pairs from 10-10 to Q-Q. You want to know if your opponent has got an A. I personally would not check as none of his responses check or bet will give me any information on his hand. I don t think that a CB will give us more as he might just call again. I would go for 3/4 of the pot. If he calls, I would wait for the turn card, if he raises I would fold thinking he may even have two pairs. Is this a correct move ? KK is a hard hand to play in this example for me as you want to make the most of it but you know that you may have to let it go. For me betting 3/4 of the pot will give me enough will power to let go on the hand if the opponent raises even if I m pot committed. We have to remember. I’m not sure if you know what ‘4bet’ means. A 4bet is a ‘re-re-raise’. Let’s said your raising (2bet) with KK pre-flop from UTG and the guy from MP re-raised (3bet) you and you re-raised (4bet) him again and he called. Than you play the hand out of position, because your first to act on the flop.
Lets said the flop is 5h 9s Ad than the range of MP is most likely a lot tighter than AK down to A10, pairs from 10-10 to Q-Q. If I was him I would only call with AK and maybe QQ and JJ on a 4bet, but depends how deep you’re playing. It’s also possible he slow played AA or KK here. I would give him a range of AK and JJ+ against a random player.
In most tournaments you start with 150bb and than he invest depending how the action went approximately 25bb (example 3bb raise/9bb 3bet/25bb 4bet) and that’s 1/6 of starting stack.
Pot is now 51,5bb. If you want to Cbet on a dry board 5h 9s Ad I would bet approximately half pot, because you will get the same info with a bet like that than with a ¾ pot bet, but you invest less now.

I was very amused that my mistake when I said : " You 4bet and one opponent calls you" when I was meant to write " You bet 4 BB" shows my ignorance on the meaning of 4betting. You could not find a better way to explain to me this concept and I will use it. I will have a much more accurate range to put on my opponent that way. Thank you very much for pointing this out from my post. I will use this fantastic tool in the future
